In a time of expensive graphics cards and seemingly not many real choices with great value, Nvidia is trying to bring something a bit more optimal. That’s where the Super refresh comes in for the Ada series, so we now find what it’s bringing to change and how the RTX 4070 Ti Super vs 4070 Ti compares, especially now that you can already find where to buy the RTX 4070 Ti Super.

The first of the lot, the RTX 4070 Ti, came out in January of 2023, with a strong promise of 1440p performance but not quite the drop in price from the initial release. But no matter it is being replaced by the release of the RTX 4070 Ti Super just a year after in Jan of 2024. But what does it offer over the original? We look to see the upgrade in our comparison, now that we’ve been able to conduct an in-depth RTX 4070 Ti Super review. If you want another interesting comparison, our RTX 4070 Ti Super vs PS5 page may be for you.

Looking at the specs of the RTX 4070 Ti Super vs 4070 Ti, we see what differences are between them. To start, it’s expected that the Super is going to be upgrading to the AD103 processor instead of the AD104-400 of the 4070 Ti. That could be likely accommodating the 8,448 CUDA cores, 768 more than the Ti. The clock rates of the two don’t change too much, just a slight boost in the clock speed by 30MHz, but the boost stays the same unless you get an overclocked model.

Another big change is in the memory setup of the card. The 4070 Ti Super increases the VRAM capacity up to 16GB of GDDR6X up from 12 in the base Ti model. The other reason for the processor change could also come from the bigger memory bus as it increases it up to 256-bit from 192, allowing the higher bandwidth as it jumps up to 672.3 GB/s. However, the total graphics power stays the same with the upgrade, keeping at 285W it allows for improved specs and likely performance without having to run more expensive.

How much better is the RTX 4070 Ti Super than the 4070 Ti?

Looking at TechPowerUp’s RTX 4070 Ti Super review, we can see the difference in performance between the two and how much the Super improves it by. At 1080p the 4070 Ti Super achieves a 177.8 FPS average compared to the 70 Ti’s 167.6. Then at 1440p, that is 137.5 and 128.2 FPS, while at 4k that slides down to 80.8 and 72.8FPS respectively. That means the 4070 Ti Super is 6-11% better than the 4070 Ti, which is greater on the higher resolutions and more demanding scenarios.

How much more expensive is the RTX 4070 Ti Super than the 4070 Ti?

As the Super upgrade, you’d expect the RTX 4070 Ti Super vs 4070 Ti to be more expensive. However, Nvidia might have come to its senses as it at least is keeping the price to same. It might be still high, but the 4070 Ti Super has a launch price of $799/£769, which is the same as when the 4070 Ti came out. But you will be getting more value out of it with its improved specs and performance, it’s still not cheap but is an improvement.

Is the 4070 Ti Super worth over the 4070 Ti?

Yes, the 4070 Ti Super is worth it over the 4070 Ti. It provides an upgrade to the already existing card with better specifications and performance whilst keeping the price the same. There is no reason to get the older pick unless you find it on an exceptional deal, but we don’t see it continuing alongside the new Super as well as it wouldn’t make sense to have it there too as it doesn’t hold up to the Super unless it’s cheaper.

There you have a look at the RTX 4070 Ti Super vs 4070 Ti. We looked at what makes the Super the best GPU out of the two and shows a strong upgrade over the original and maybe what it should’ve been like from the start. If you are interested in the new option, you could consider where to buy the RTX 4070 Ti Super.

Final word

Now you know that we think the Super-refreshed card is worth it over the original, it could be time to upgrade if you’ve been sat waiting to do so on an older generation GPU. Though we wouldn’t say it’s worth upgrading if you already have the vanilla 4070 Ti.
