Although AirPods are Apple devices, you would be delighted to know that they are not exclusive to iOS devices. You can even use your AirPods with Android devices as they can be paired with any Bluetooth-enabled device.

Even though you can connect AirPods to Android, you won’t get all the benefits of them. For instance, the battery indicator for AirPods won’t show on your phone. You can also not use Siri to answer your requests. But you can still benefit from the great battery life and sound quality that AirPods offer.

So how to connect AirPods to Android? We have broken down the process into a few simple steps for you. So let’s dive right in!

How to connect AirPods to Android?

Follow these steps to connect AirPods to an Android device:

Step

1

Turn on Bluetooth on your Android device

On your Android device, go to Settings > Connected Devices > Bluetooth, and turn it on.

Step

2

Pair your AirPods

For AirPods and AirPods Pro, put your AirPods in their charging case and then open its lid. Now press and hold the button on its back until you see the white light flashing. This would indicate that your AirPods are in pairing mode.

If you have AirPods Max, press and hold the noise control button on them until you see the white light flashing.

Step

3

Connect your AirPods to the Android device

Your AirPods should now appear in the list of available Bluetooth devices. Select them from the list and your Android device will be connected to them.

You are now all set to use your AirPods with your Android device. Lucky that, as you get to reap the benefits from some of the best earbuds out there, but only slightly contribute to Apple as a company, however, that might still be too much for some people.

Whatever the case, until Apple comes out with their own proprietary wireless audio codec, AirPods are definitely worth buying, even if you aren’t committed to the apple ecosystem. The ANC of the AirPods Pro, in particular, is industry leading.
