Is the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra good for gaming? The Galaxy Book series on the whole are general use / creative laptops, and not designed for gaming, however, it looks like the new Galaxy Book3 Ultra comes with an option for a powerful, dedicated graphics card, not to mention a high-end Intel 13th gen laptop CPU, meaning gaming could definitely be on the cards.

The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra release date has not yet come to pass, in fact the device hasn’t even yet been confirmed by Samsung as actually existing. That being said, it’s very likely that we’ll see the laptop revealed at the Samsung Unpacked event on 1st February, 2023, when we’ll know everything about it, including when it will be hitting the shelves.

We have however already seen leaks of the new device, that seem to be genuine, so, based on these, we can certainly still have a stab at answering this question.

Is the Galaxy Book3 Ultra GPU powerful enough for gaming?

From what we’ve heard, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will come with the option for an RTX 4070 laptop GPU, which is a very powerful graphics card.

Although laptop GPUs can vary a lot in terms of their power, depending on their TGP (Total Graphics Power) – essentially the amount of Wattage the component can draw upon – even a lower-powered RTX 4070 would still be very capable of running all the latest games to a decent standard.

We don’t know what lower-specced loadouts the Galaxy Book3 Ultra will come with, so can’t say whether all variants of the laptop will have the GPU power to run games, but as soon as we know we’ll update this section accordingly.

Is the Galaxy Book3 Ultra CPU powerful enough for gaming?

Whilst the graphics card is more important when it comes to gaming, a powerful CPU will make a significant difference to in-game FPS performance.

Based on the latest leaks about the Galaxy Book3 Ultra specifications, we understand that the highest-specced variant will come with an Intel Core i9-13900H CPU, which is one of the most powerful laptop CPUs in the Intel 13th gen laptop CPU range, and therefore one of the most powerful laptop processors money can buy – very well suited to gaming.

Is the Galaxy Book3 Ultra refresh rate high enough for gaming?

We’re less certain about the maximum refresh rate of the Galaxy Book3 Ultra, though we do know that Samsung have been developing a 120Hz 3K AMOLED display, which could very well be the one that ends up in this device. So, is the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra good for gaming? Although we can’t say for sure yet until the official big reveal, if all the above specs are accurate then the high-end version of the Galaxy Book3 Ultra at the least will be a solid gaming machine.
