Back in January 2022, AEW released a merch drop featuring a collaboration with Capcom and Street Fighter. A series of t-shirts showed some of All Elite Wrestling’s top fighters pitted against Street Fighter’s most recognisable characters. While the limited ed. t-shirts are no longer available, AEW is carrying on the collaboration in real nostalgic style with Street Fighter action figures.

The figures showcase costumes donned by The Elite, AKA Kenny Omega and Young Bucks’ Nick and Matt Jackson, during Fyter Fest 2019. Since the inaugural Fyter Fest was held in conjunction with CEO Gaming’s annual convention, the trio wore outfits inspired by the classic fighting game, Street Fighter. The Young Bucks’ kitted themselves out in Gi’s made to look like those worn by Street Fighter’s Ken and Ryu. Meanwhile, Kenny Omega’s look was inspired by Akuma.

The Ken, Ryu, and Akuma looks are all now coming to life once more in the three new action figures announced during AEW Fan Fest over the first weekend in March 2022. While this was a very early sneak peek, there is little else known about the figures just yet. But official images of the figurines have been shared online thanks to AEW by Jazwares on Instagram and NERDS Clothing, the company behind previous Capcom x AEW merch.

As seen on the AEW by Jazwares Instagram post, there may also be an adorable Wrestling Buddies figure coming in the collection too. Also featuring Kenny Omega as Street Fighter’s Akuma, the sneak peek shows a cute, muscular, artist’s impression of the upcoming toy.

New AEW game coming from Yuke’s

And while we’re on the topic of AEW and gaming, the upcoming video game by Yuke’s is still in the works. Yuke’s were the developer behind WWE 2K games until Visual Concepts took over in 2019. As such, we can trust that they know what they’re doing when it comes to wrestling games.

There’s no release date for the Yuke’s AEW title just yet, and it’s all been suspiciously quiet on the development front since early footage of Darby Allin gameplay was released in June 2021.

This reveal comes following the February 2022 announcement that Street Fighter 6 is currently in development. Capcom are working on the game, with more news to follow in Summer 2022.
