With Season 12: Defiance just around the corner, Apex Legends fans have a lot to look forward to. And now Respawn Entertainment have released the season’s launch trailer. With the addition of Mad Maggie to the roster, Apex Legends Season 12 is shaping up to be the most dynamic yet. And if players needed any more incentive, those that join the season in its first three weeks will be treated to free unlockable Legends and skins.

Those that thought Mad Maggie’s arrival in Apex Legends Season 12 would be a quieter affair than her last appearance are sorely mistaken. It looks as though her explosive arrival into the games was only ever intended to be a scapegoat. Maggie’s position as the obvious “villain” of the piece has obscured some more subtle skulduggery in the background. Octane’s father, known so far only as Mr Silva, has managed to sneak into Olympus and upload the Defiance protocol – Season 12’s namesake. And whatever this protocol is, it’s done some real damage to Olympus. The once airborne city has been ripped out of its place in the sky and sent hurtling groundward.
Mad Maggie makes a splash
Apex Legends fans are clamouring to know more about the upcoming Season 12. Among the most pressing questions is how Mad Maggie will play as an official Legend. Will her abilities function similarly to fellow Salvo scavenger Fuse? Or will the two’s fractured friendship make for a pair of mechanical opposites? One thing’s for sure, a firebrand like Maggie is sure to have one or two devastating tricks in her arsenal.
A Legend never dies
Mad Maggie isn’t the only legend getting her time in the sun – and in this trailer. After twelve long, gruelling seasons of humiliation for Octane, the fan-favourite daredevil has FINALLY managed to actually survive until the end of a trailer! And all he had to do was throw his lot in with Mad Maggie. Octane managed to ensure she wasn’t to be picked off by other Legends the second she landed. With the appearance of Mr Silva, perhaps Respawn is attempting to position Octane as a slightly more serious part of this narrative. But narrative importance aside, surely this is improbable survival is the most momentous news about Apex Legends Season 12 so far! Judging by past seasons, Respawn will be revealing more about the game in the remaining days before release. But they’d have to truly pull out the stops for anything to top this.
Apex Legends Season 12 is set to launch Feb. 8 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
