Pearl Abyss, the developers behind the online RPG, Black Desert Online has revealed the game is performing well. The game recently went through a massive new update, featuring the Black Desert class rework. Coinciding with the event and the festivities for players to get involved with, it appears that the game has grown massively. So much so it appears there is a 230% increase in its new western player count.

Black Desert Online player base improves

Back in December, Pearl Abyss implemented the update that introduced several class reworks – 17 out of 23 to be exact. Ever since that update, more and more players came to the game and gave it a go, with many sticking around. It means that the western servers of Black Desert Online see a significant improvement, with its communities coming more and more alive.

Combine this with the recent winter events and you have a recipe for success. The event’s key features are the popular Joyful packs, increased loot, and other content to go looking for. With people sticking around, many are now getting other hands on the Marni’s Unstable Fuel feature, allowing players to test out other classes using their currently equipped gear. All in all, this is a game very much catering to the rising casual altaholic player base. Not to mention the other balance changes and other content additions that have come around through 2021 and earlier.

One of the other things that is making players give Black Desert Online a go is the lack of egregious PvP. One of the common complaints of BDO is the PvP. Since New World’s launch, it turns out there is a market for games like New World, Black Desert, Elyon and more, however, the gank fest is not ideal. People in the Steam community pages have mentioned the game is nowhere near as hostile as it used to be, making it more attractive to onlookers who have always meant to try it.

If you’re wondering about the Black Desert Online player count figure you can somewhat track the growth over at SteamDB. You can see there is a considerable rise in concurrent players. Note that the details are for new players and not returning players, which means the percentages is not having an abnormal impact on the concurrent player base in the West.
