It looks as though Epic Games are experiencing some more Fortnite issues around matchmaking with players reporting issues with the game being laggy and unable to connect. It seems as though there are problems around the new Spiderman content that could be causing a wider issue.
Issues such as matchmaking and ever players being kicked from games have reared their heads out of seemingly nowhere causing the devs to take drastic action which is still ongoing.
Is Fortnite down on Xbox?
It seems the issue is affecting players not just on PC but on all formats including Xbox.
In a tweet a few minutes ago from the Fortnite Status account, the devs said:
Since then they have followed up by saying they have disabled Spiderman’s web shooters while they investigate the issue.
Fortnite servers laggy
It seems whatever the issue is it is making the servers appear laggy for players. It seems that Epic has quickly zoned in on the fact it is to do with the webs, maybe too many of them being generated by players for the servers to cope, so they have been forced to disable the option, at least right now until they can see what is going on.
Spiderman web shooter
It seems Epic believes the problem is directly related to the new in-game item that has only launched in the past couple of hours. It would appear that so many players wanted to try out the new game mechanic they have actually managed to bring down the game, which isn’t a great look for Fortnite or Epic. Single-game items should not really cause such a big issue.
It’s only an hour since the official Fortnite account tweeted:

It seems many players are experiencing an error telling them they do not have permission to play Fortnite. This is causing concern on Twitter and Reddit from players who are unaware the game is undergoing issues, leading many to believe that they have been accidentally banned.
All you can do at this stage if you are getting this error message is keep trying to log on, many are reporting that that sooner or later you will get back into the game. Failing that, have a cup of coffee and wait for Epic Games to sort out its problems.
