Free Xbox Games With Gold for October 2021

A new month is nearly here, so it’s time to take a look at the free games that will be available on Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Ultimate for October 2021.

As we approach the end of the month, four more games have been announced for free with Games with Gold on Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for October 2021. And, since we’re getting into spooky season (or, if you’re anything like me, are already well into it), of course there has to be some Resident Evil for the horror fans. But don’t worry if you’re not a fan of the terrifying, there’s something for everyone.

Xbox Games with Gold October 2021

October 2021, as with most months, brings another two Xbox 360 games to Games with Gold. They are always backwards compatible games, meaning they are playable on all Xbox consoles after, and including, the Xbox 360. Then there’s the two more up-to-date games, only accessible on Xbox One and Series X/S.

Oct 1 – 31

Aaero (Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S)

The critically acclaimed Aaero will be available with Games with Gold throughout October. This British game is as innovative for its gameplay as it is its incredible soundtrack, which go hand-in-hand to provide a stunning rhythm game like no other. Fly through colorful sci-fi landscapes while soundtracked by the likes of Flux Pavilion and Katy B in this Mad Fellows game from 2017.

Hover (Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S)

Sticking with the bright and colorful before we get into spooky territory, Hover is the second Xbox One game on Games with Gold in October, available between October 16th and November 15th. In this exhilarating, neon-colored parkour game, you’ll team up with a group of young rebels as you race around the futuristic Hover City. Your aim is to rise against the oppression from new anti-leisure laws in the city while taking in the bright sights of your surroundings.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair (Xbox 360)

Moving on to this month’s Backwards Compatible Xbox 360 games, starting with Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. This 2D platform game will be available to download with Games with Gold from October 1st to 15th, so you’ll need to be quick if you want to add it to your collection. Harmony of Despair is one of Konami’s newer games in the series that inspired the popular Netflix anime, combining the classic feel of the older games with more advanced online multiplayer gameplay.

Resident Evil – Code: Veronica X (Xbox 360)

Finally getting our October horror fill, the final game in this month’s Games with Gold line-up is Resident Evil – Code: Veronica X. Code: Veronica X is the remastered early-noughties horror-survival game originally released on the Dreamcast. Following the events of Resident Evil 2, you play as Claire Redfield as you go in search of your brother, Chris, who becomes playable for the second part of the game. Play as both as you try to escape the Umbrella Corporation and the effects of the deadly T-Veronica virus.

Depending on whether you’re reading this from the future, you may still be able to get your hands on three of September’s Games with Gold before it’s too late.

Samurai Shodown (Xbox 360)

Samurai Shodown II is available to download until September 30th, so it’s still available if you get your skates on. SNK’s classic fighting game centres around intense sword combat and utilizes features such as the Rage System to really test your ability. While Samurai Shodown was faithfully recreated in a brand-new release in 2019, you still can’t beat that nostalgia you’ll get from this 1994 game.

Warhammer: Chaosbane (Xbox One and Series X/S)

Warhammer: Chaosbane is also still available to get your virtual hands on until September 30th. This action RPG takes you straight into the world of Warhammer, where you are needed in a post-war world of destruction and magic to take down the powerful Chaos hordes.

Mulaka (Xbox One and Series X/S)

Mulaka is a stunning, colorful action-adventure game for the Xbox One and Series X/S which is actually still available on Xbox Games with Gold until October 15th. Step inside the rich culture of the Tarahumara, a Mexican indigenous tribe known for their phenomenal running ability. You’ll go on an adventure of a Tarahumara shaman as you solve puzzles and embark in combat inspired by real Raramuri locations.

Games with Gold are available for everyone with either active Xbox Live Gold, or a current Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offers the same benefits as Xbox Live Gold, but with the added bonus of cloud gaming. Over 100 games are currently available on Xbox Game Pass, plus you get an EA Play membership included as well.
