iPad vs iPad Pro 2022

There are quite a few big differences between the standard iPad vs iPad Pro 2022: the more premium variant has a more powerful Apple M2 chip, compared to the A14 Bionic chip of the 10th gen iPad, it also has an additional 10MP ultra wide camera on top of the 12MP one that you get in all versions of the device. Storage options extend all the way up to 1TB and 2TB on the Pro, though these obviously make it substantially more expensive.

One area in which the standard iPad variant actually has an advantage over the iPad Pro 2022 is the landscape camera placement, and it’s unfortunate this is not replicated in the more expensive premium tablet. It’s also available in a more wide array of colors: silver, blue, pink, and yellow as opposed to just silver and space grey.

The biggest advantage of the standard iPad however is that it’s significantly cheaper: coming with a starting MSRP of $499 vs $799 for the 11-inch iPad Pro 2022 and $1,099 for the 12.9-inch version.

Is the iPad Pro 2022 worth it? FAQs

Is the iPad Pro 2021 still good?

The iPad Pro 2021 has a slower M1 chip compared to the M2 chip in the new iPad Pro 2022 and slower memory bandwidth, meaning it performs about 13% slower than the iPad Pro 2022 is capable of.

The new iPad Pro also has a feature called Apple Pencil hover, which gives greater functionality and improved detection when using the Apple Pencil.

Besides this though, there’s not a lot of difference between the iPad Pro 2021 and the iPad Pro 2022, meaning the iPad Pro 2021 is definitely still a good option, particularly if you don’t care about the new additions or want to save some money.

So is the iPad Pro 2022 worth it?

The iPad Pro 2022 is worth it if you’re looking for a more powerful version of the iPad Pro 2021, with improved Apple Pencil support, however, if neither of these things appeal, you’d be better sticking with the older gen model.
