People Playground is a potentially very sadistic sandbox that allows you to do literally whatever you want on a 2D plain. With that being said, I think it’s really fun and I have amassed almost 70 hours in it so far. Now it seems People Playground is close to overtaking Portal 2 as the Top-rated game on Steam, which both excites and concerns me.
It’s not all stabbing and shooting, you can build buildings, fly planes, drive cars, or pilot mega machines you create from nothing but your imagination. But blowing things up is really fun.

People Playground currently has a positive rating of 97.51% according to SteamDB, whereas Portal 2 is only 0.20% ahead, with a rating of 97.71%. We’re close lads!
It seems as though the r/peopleplayground community wants People Playground to be the Top-rated Steam game.
It’s both surprising and unsurprising to see such a game in the running for the Top-rated game on Steam, on the one hand, it’s a sandbox game, meaning you have the power to create what you choose. Ultimately you have the power to do what you like.
On the other, it’s relatively low effort compared to AAA story-based games that big developers publish, with seemingly infinite budgets and development teams in the thousands. You’d think it’s those that topped Steam DB’s charts, but no.
People Playground offers gore-based physics and dynamic mutilation of the avatars available to spawn in, not only that, but People Playground offers intricate electrical infrastructure, industrial machines, and vehicles to play with – and bombs, lots of guns, and bombs.
If you haven’t tried People Playground, we highly recommend you do. There’s way more than meets the eye with this one, it’s far more complex than you think.
In a way, this is a testament to how good Portal 2 is
We’re all sat here thinking that People Playground must be better than Portal 2, because it may overtake Poeral 2 as Steam’s Top-rated game. However, I see this as a testament to how good Portal 2 actually is.
It takes a game that gives you literally endless possibilities to come close to competing with Portal 2 for its top spot. People Playground gives you a blank canvas and says “Go nuts”, however, Portal 2 is intricately designed, and voiced, and it tells a really compelling story.
Portal 2 is a fantastic game, I don’t want this article to diminish anything any of these two games have accomplished, but I know that, even though I’m rooting for People Playground, I’d still be just as happy to see Portal KLeep it’s a top spot.
With all that being said, People Playground is close to overtaking Portal 2 as the Top-rated game on Steam.
