League of Legends: Wild Rift esports 2022 plan

After a solid first year of Wild Rift esports in 2021, Riot Games announced it is launching the first-ever season of Wild Rift esports. The first-ever season of Wild Rift will feature eight different regional leagues, each getting seasonal play kicking off in January and lasting until May. Eventually, there will be a major tournament, which will see regional champions take on teams who made their way through the play-in tournament. Eventually, this tournament will crown the number one team in Wild Rift esports, which will act as the Worlds championship for the game.

In terms of the Leagues, the eight Wild Rift regions feature:

  • Japan – February 22
  • North America – February 2022
  • Brasil – January 13, 2022
  • EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) – February 5, 2022
  • Korea – Feb 14, 2022
  • Latin America – Jan 28, 2022
  • South-East Asia – Jan 22, 2022
  • Wild Rift League – a league featuring a wide variety of great teams. – March 2022

When these regions conclude, the winners of each region will automatically qualify for the world champions of Wild Rift esports, titled the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship. The tournament features 24 teams taking part throughout the event’s many stages. Eight teams will make their way into the Group Stage, while other teams will aim to qualify for the event through the Play-ins tournament. The team will then fight in the Play-ins, with the winners making their way into the group stage. The group stage will then bracket the teams, with the top two of each group making their way to a quarter-final, then into a semi-final, then into the grand final, determining the best in the world at Wild Rift esports.
