These are AMD’s latest and greatest CPUs and it’s easy to see why when you read into them a little bit. They bring a plethora of features never before seen on the AMD platform, and processing power like you’ve never seen.

The Ryzen 9 7900X is the second-best CPU AMD has to offer in its brand new Ryzen 7000 series line-up. Second only to the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X. This CPU is a monster in its own right, promising performance as we’ve never seen before. And on paper, it has the specs to back it up.

The 7900X is one beat of a CPU, second only to the 7950X. But with a $150 lower price tag, will it turn out to be a better value?

Zen 4 updates

1/09/22 – AMD Ryzen 5 7600X is 11% faster than the i9-12900K. During its “together we advance PCs” event, AMD claimed that the Ryzen 5 7600X is 11% faster in F1 2022 than the Core i9-12900K. Whilst reveling single-threaded performance in Geekbench for all four Zen 4 CPUs.

02/09/22 – Zen 4 CPU samples should be getting shipped out any time now, we expect to receive our samples shortly.

05/09/22 – The Ryzen 9 7950X reportedly reaches a massive score of 37425 in Cinebench R23 multi-threaded benchmarks. However, the CPU reaches 96°C with a 360mm all-in-one cooler in the process.

6/09/22 – The AMD Zen 4 review embargo has been confirmed as the 26th of September 2022, which means we should be getting review samples within the next week or so.

AMD recently confirmed the prices of all the Zen 4 CPUs in its “together we advance PCs” event on August 29th, 2022.

Ryzen 9 7900X specs

Not much is known currently around the Ryzen 9 7900X specs, but we’re sure to get more information at AMD’s “together we advance” event hosted on august 29th.

The Ryzen 9 7900X will come equipped with a 12-core 32-thread setup, with base and boost frequencies topping 4.7GHz, and 5.6GHz respectively. The CPU retains the same 170W TDP as the 7950X. As for cache, the 7900X has 76MB of cache (64MB L3 and 12MB of L2)
