Currently, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 and AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT are likely the two greatest 1080p graphics cards available.

Both have the ability to run games at their highest settings in 1080p at frame rates fast enough for high refresh rate monitors. When choosing a graphics card for gaming at 1080p or 1440p, you’re probably weighing the benefits of the 6700 XT and the RTX 3060.

These AMD and NVIDIA cards are two of the most affordable GPUs for gaming at resolutions below 4K.

The price and performance of NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 and AMD’s RX 6700 XT should appeal to the majority of gamers. Although they are both priced as midrange cards in an overheated GPU market caused by the worldwide chip scarcity, they both produce a performance that is nearly on par with high-end cards.

Is the 6700 XT better than an RTX 3060?

The RTX 3060 is a more compact card that uses less energy, performs ray tracing significantly better, and enables DLSS in games that support it. Both can play games at 1440p with ease, and specific titles even keep high refresh rates, provided the settings are significantly lowered.

The 6700 XT generally outperforms the 3060 at these resolutions. However, this is highly game-dependent. However, at 4K, the 3060 narrowly outperforms the 6700 XT. Raw rasterization performance, however, may be one of many factors you should take into account.

It would be worthwhile to choose a 6700 XT over a 3060 if you’re gaming at 1080p or 1440p, don’t care about ray tracing, DLSS, or power consumption (and thus, heat output), and both cards cost around the same.

However, a 3060 is certainly a better investment if you are concerned about any of these factors or if you want to play games at 4K. And given that more and more games are successfully incorporating DLSS, the 3060 is a better choice for this reason.

At 1080p and 1440p, both cards should work admirably for you and relatively well at 4K unless you require the highest ray tracing performance. However, these are only optimum conditions. It’s generally advisable to get whatever you can get a decent bargain on, given that next-gen cards are just around the way and current GPU costs are still hit-or-miss.
