Along with the new $999 Radeon RX 7900 XTX and $899 Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics cards, the AMD RDNA 3 architecture has finally been unveiled.

These are expected to compete against the greatest graphics cards, and AMD appears to have a strong chance of conquering the GPU benchmarks hierarchy. RDNA 3 maintains the emphasis on energy efficiency AMD placed on it with the previous two generations of RDNA designs.

When tested at 4K UHD resolution, AMD’s performance claims for the Radeon RX 7900 XTX place the card somewhere between 50% and 70% quicker than the company’s current flagship, the RX 6950 XT.

RDNA 3 maintains the emphasis on energy efficiency AMD placed on it with the previous two generations of RDNA designs. According to AMD, RDNA 3 had a 54% higher performance per watt than RDNA2.

RX 7900 XTX specs

AMD has significantly increased its efficiency over the last three generations. The 7900 XTX is expected to deliver outstanding performance at 4k as compared to the previous generation AMD cards.

At 1080p and 1440p, the card can provide high resolution and frame rates, but it is quite overkilled at 1440p. The RDNA 3 and the high number of tensor and shader cores are designed specifically for the heavy games to be played at 4k.

The 7900 XTX is going to be a tough competitor for the RTX 4080 graphics card when it comes to 4k gaming. If you want to play games at the resolution of 1440p, it is not worth spending on a graphics card that is meant for 4k gaming. But, in case you want to upgrade to 4k gaming in the coming times, then you can opt for the 7900 XT.

RDNA 3 and the RX 7900 XTX sound incredibly promising all around. Even while AMD can’t quite match the RTX 4090’s raw performance, the $999 price tag is unquestionably commendable.

Naturally, when the GPUs are released in December, we’ll test the hardware to see how it performs. On December 13, 2022, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT will officially launch. AMD is still developing drivers and probably completing some of the other aspects because that is still less than a month away.

Can 7900 XTX do 8k?

AMD is prepared to bring in ultra-high refresh rate gaming and high-resolution gaming at 4K and even 8K, with plenty of performance to spare, thanks to the performance boost and new features implemented.

Due to RDNA 3 being the first GPU to implement DisplayPort 2.1 requirements and having a display link bandwidth up to 54 Gbps, the new AMD Radiance Display Engine’s key selling point is its capability for ultra-high resolution games and spiking refresh rates that is up to 8K165 or 4K480.

Since you’ll be able to experience considerably greater refresh rates in even 4K and 8K resolution gaming with next-generation displays heading your way in 2024, this will enable the GPU to deliver even smoother onscreen gaming.

Despite this, AMD revealed that FSR 3.0, which is expected to provide PC gamers with more than twice the frame rates of FSR 2.0, will be available in 2024. The Fluid Motion frame technology, which is essentially AI-based frame generation technology, is the most significant new feature that allows it to provide this improvement in performance.
