How to connect AirPods to TV with built-in Bluetooth
If your TV has built-in Bluetooth, you can connect your AirPods to your TV by following these steps:

Turn Bluetooth on in your TV settings
Go to the Bluetooth settings on your TV and make sure that Bluetooth is turned on. In the case of an Android device, select Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.

Put the AirPods in pairing mode
Open the lid of your AirPods case with the AirPods inside them. Press and hold the button on its back until you see the white light flashing.

Pair your pods
Your AirPods will now appear in the list of reachable Bluetooth devices. Select them to connect your TV to your AirPods.
That’s all you need to do if your TV already has Bluetooth, which is the case with most smart TVs these days. However, some older TVs might not have Bluetooth built-in. If this is the case for you, you’ll need an adapter and the instructions below.
How to connect AirPods to TV without built-in Bluetooth
To connect your AirPods to a TV without built-in Bluetooth, you will need a Bluetooth audio adapter. Once you have your hands on a Bluetooth adapter, follow these steps:

Connect Adapter to TV
Connect your Bluetooth adapter to your TV via the headphone jack or USB.

Put the AirPods in pairing mode
Press and hold the button on the back of your AirPods case until you see the white light flashing. Make sure your AirPods are inside.

Put the adapter into pairing mode
Get the Bluetooth adapter into pairing mode. This process will vary depending on the Adapter in question, so check its user manual. Make sure your AirPods are close to the adapter.

Set the TV to output sound through the adapter
Once both of these devices are connected, go to the Digital Audio Format in your TV’s Settings menu and make sure it is set to PCM.
Now you should be all set to use your AirPods with your TV. This means you can continue content consumption late into the night without fear of wrath from your co-habitor.
