The Ryzen 7 5800X3D, AMD’s first X3D CPU, is no longer available in various EU regions after seeing a major price increase.
AMD’s first Ryzen X3D CPU, known as one of the best gaming processors, is out of stock and no longer available in some regions. The CPU has already disappeared from EU markets like Germany and Austria, and it’s likely this shortage will spread globally – as several retailers are already raising prices. However, gamers need not worry, as the newer 5700X3D is ready to take its place.
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D listed by one retailer at double the price
According to 3DCenter, only one retailer, Geizhals, is currently offering the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D. However, the ongoing shortage has significantly impacted prices, with the processor listed at a staggering $878—double its original MSRP. Aside from this retailer, the CPU is unavailable on any other online platforms in Germany or Austria.
Previously, we have seen price surges for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and now the Ryzen 7 5800X3D appears to be facing the same fate. While we anticipated availability and pricing issues for previous generations, we didn’t expect the 5800X3D to completely vanish from specific EU regions like this.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D still remains a gaming beast
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D was AMD’s first X3D CPU, featuring 3D V-Cache technology that added an extra 64 MB of L3 cache to boost gaming performance. As the fastest chip in the Zen 3 lineup, it offered AM4 users a solid upgrade path. Despite the release of newer CPUs from both AMD and Intel, the 5800X3D continued to dominate, relying on the older Zen 3 architecture and AM4 platform. However, with signs pointing towards a possible discontinuation, the new 5700X3D variant seems ready to take its place.
For users who own an AM4 motherboard and plan to upgrade to the fast X3D CPU, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D is a great option. It provides the same 8-core/16-thread configuration as the 5800X3D and offers Ryzen 7600-equivalent performance in gaming, plus we found it listed on Amazon for just $194 at the time of writing this.
AMD is making room for its first Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000X3D processor
The out-of-stock situation with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D can be attributed to significant price hikes, and it may also be a strategy by AMD to clear the shelves for the upcoming Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000X3D processor, which we anticipate will be the Ryzen 9 9800X3D. Leaks suggest that this next-gen CPU will debut in early November and provide much higher clock speeds than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D but at a premium price.
