Can you play Madden 23 on a laptop and get good FPS?

Playing Madden 23 on a laptop and whilst getting respectable FPS is definitely possible, and you don’t need to break the bank to do it. We’d still recommend a minimum of 60FPS performance, however unlike competitive first-person-shooters, you won’t be at much of a disadvantage if you have sub-100 FPS in this sporting title, so you don’t have to buy a high-end laptop. For those who want the smoothest experience possible on the virtual pitch however you can always spend more.

As with all gaming laptops, you won’t get the same level of FPs performance as you would on a desktop PC for the same budget, but you do get the additional advantages of portability. Below we’ve listed some options you should consider if you’re interested in Madden 23 laptop gaming, including a relatively cheap gaming laptop for Madden 23.

Madden 23 recommended specifications (desktop)

The below recommended system requirements for Madden 23 are for those looking to play the game at 1080p resolution on a desktop PC. Generally speaking, gaming laptop graphics cards are underpowered compared to their desktop components, and so if you’re looking to play the game on a laptop you’ll need to add a bit more on top. In our experience, minimum system requirements (not listed here) tend to be the absolute bare minimum to run the game, but not necessarily to a playable standard (that you’d enjoy) – recommended specs should generally be treated as the equivalent of the true minimum specs to enjoy the game. See below for some of our suggested models at different power levels, resolutions, and price points. For more detail on the desktop requirements, read our Madden 23 system requirements page.

Cheap gaming laptop for Madden 23 @ 1080p

This laptop has been one of our big picks for the best gaming laptop under $1,000 for a some time, including the previous RTX 2060 model of the MSI GF65 Thin, and now the newest RTX 3060 laptop. If it’s available, we recommend the Intel Core i7 CPU version where possible, but the i5 is still a good budget choice. The only downside of this machine is that you’ll really want to stick in an extra 8GB RAM stick, as one simply isn’t enough. This is relatively easily accomplished however, and not a reason to be put off this purchase.

Best value gaming laptop for Madden 23 at 1440p / high FPS

If you want to play Madden 23 on a laptop at 1440p on the highest settings then the ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition offers unbeatable value. This all-AMD gaming laptop punches well above its weight in FPS terms compared to the other gaming laptops in its price range (offering performance approximately equivalent to an RTX 3070 laptop, albeit with inferior RTX performance), and comes with a fantastic 165Hz QHD display (though it does lack a webcam). If you have your heart set on an Nvidia machine instead, then, check out some of the other options available in our best gaming laptop under $1,500 list, though you won’t find FPS performance to match this laptop.

Best gaming laptop for Madden 23 at 4K

Most 4K laptops are capped at a 60Hz refresh rate, which is a bit low for anything we’d recommend to game on. Unfortunately, the few higher refresh rate 4K gaming laptops are quite pricey indeed, and come with more powerful specs than you’ll need to play Madden 23, even on this resolution at the very highest settings. All those caveats being considered, the ASUS Zephyrus S17 with RTX 3080 is a great 4K gaming laptop, if you can afford it. With a 120Hz 4K display, it has the power and refresh rate to actually make gaming at such a high resolution worthwhile. Alternatively, you may also want to consider the 144Hz Razer Blade 17 with 4K display, though this is even more pricey and doesn’t pack the same high TGP core components.
