As Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 starts to draw to a close just ahead of Halloween, it makes perfect sense for the next season to tie in with the spookiest time of year.

Call of Duty Nightmare Undead Siege

Undead Siege returns to COD Mobile for this Nightmarish new season. Originally released in Season 6 in August, 2021, and then removed for Season 8, Undead Siege is Mobile’s Zombies gamemode. A fitting candidate to be revamped for the spooky season.

In this chilling update to an already terrifying mode, the return of Undead Siege sees even more types of zombie surrounding you in casual mode. Both casual and hard mode will also now have dynamic spawning for zombies, so you’ll never quite know where they’re going to be coming from.

Aside from these changes to the zombies themselves, there will also be new Undead Siege missions to get to take on, Halloween easter eggs to discover, and new lore to explore.

COD Mobile Map changes

Halloween Standoff

The Halloween version of BOII’s Standoff map is coming back to COD Mobile for 2021’s Nightmare season. The map first appeared in Call of Duty: Mobile in 2019’s Halloween event, and is an atmospheric remake featuring eerie Jack-o-lanterns and a transformed statue under a glowing full moon.

Hovec Sawmill

A map franchise fans may recognise from Modern Warfare, Hovec Sawmill is having its COD Mobile debut as part of Nightmare, as well. Set at night, though, it will look slightly different to how fans remember, making it more appropriately frightening, and more likely to pop up in your own nightmares.

Season 9: Nightmare — Drop Zone mode

A new game mode for COD: Mobile, Drop Zone has been brought over from MW3. In Drop Zone, the focus is on dominating the designated Drop Zones that appear around the map. Get your whole team in there, because the more players in the Drop Zone, the more points earned, and the more easily you’ll earn Scorestreaks. But don’t forget you’ll make for an easy target while you’re in the Zone.

Trick or Treat COD: Mobile in-game event

In this new All Hallows’ Eve themed event, feel like a kid again as you go door to door, seeking out candy. Get a treat, and you’ll be instantly rewarded with sweet treats – in other words, bonus XP. Get tricked, and you can still get that XP, you’ll just need to earn it by completing an in-game challenge. Don’t forget to set your own room to trick or treat as well.

Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 release time

Season 9: Nightmare launches on COD: Mobile on October 21, 2021. The update will go live at 5pm PST/8pm EST/12am BST.

How long will COD: Mobile Season 9, Nightmare last?

Call of Duty: Mobile seasons typically last around a month, so we could expect to see Nightmare draw to a close sometime around November 18th or 19th, 2021. With this being quite far on from Halloween itself, though, this could also just be a shorter season than usual. In 2020, the Mobile Halloween event was just that, an event as opposed to a season, so only lasted around a week.
