Counter Strike 2, CSGO 2, or CS2, whatever you want to call it has officially been announced and fans are getting the chance to jump into the limited play test right now!

The game will not release until summer of this year but could we see Counter Strike 2 come to PS5?

While it is unlikely, it is worth pointing out that CSGO was ported to the Xbox earlier in its life, although why anyone would want to play this esports celebrity on anything other than keyboard and mouse is a mystery. So, is Counter Strike 2 to coming to PS5?

Counter Strike 2 PS5 console port unlikely

Counter Strike 2 to coming to PS5?

There is no more information on this, we have to go with the general gut feeling that CS 2 is unlikely to hit the PS5 at all. At present, Counter-Strike 2 has been confirmed for release exclusively on Valve’s handheld device, the Steam Deck. Although, there are currently no official announcements about the game being launched on other gaming consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch. However, this information is subject to change in the future.

It is early days though and if a port is possible at little expense to developers, who knows, maybe the game can transition. The main issue with this is that CS2 doesn’t really translate, it is tough on a controller, bordering on not fun.

Will Counter Strike 2 be on Steam Deck?

Counter-Strike 2 has been confirmed for release on Steam, macOS, and SteamOS (Linux), but there is speculation about the availability of the next-gen version of the classic shooter on other platforms. As of now, Valve’s handheld device, the Steam Deck, is the only console that will officially support Counter-Strike 2. While the Steam Deck is capable of running Counter-Strike: Global Offensive at 1280×800 with a consistent 60 frames per second, the game may encounter performance issues on the handheld console once it is upgraded to Counter-Strike 2 later this year.

Although there are other Windows and Linux-based handheld consoles available, their performance capabilities may vary. If you intend to play Counter-Strike on the Steam Deck, it’s important to note that the 64GB model features an eMMC storage drive, while the 256GB and 512GB models come equipped with faster NVMe SSDs for data read and write speeds.

It’s worth mentioning that playing the game on the Steam Deck will require you to use the built-in joysticks and touchscreen, as opposed to a keyboard and mouse. While this may not be the ideal method of playing, it remains a viable option for gamers looking to enjoy the game on-the-go.

Could we see Counter Strike 2 on any console?

As mentioned, CSGO did eventually make its way to the Xbox market, although it wasn’t considered a hit.

The truth is though that many console players are looking for that high-adrenaline hit of eSports gaming and there isn’t much to go for. What have they got Halo? Warzone 2? options are limited.

There are better competitive options for console players that are tailored to controller use, Counter Strike is a tough one without a mouse.
