Endwalker launched several days ago, with players getting their hands on the official Early Access launch of the Endwalker expansion. However, days before the early access launch, Square Enix issued a community update regarding the expected server congestion. It turns out they were completely correct. The servers are more congested than ever, and for that, Yoshi is once again truly sorry.

So, Square Enix are compensating players for the lack of time players have had to play Endwalker or other aspects of the game’s vast amount of content. On Sunday, December 5, Yoshi revealed on the lodestone that all FFXIV players who are struggling to play the game will receive seven days of free FFXIV game time.

FFXIV free game time

The FFXIV free game time comes on the back of the goodwill of the developers. Almost every single one of us is experiencing server congestion of some sort, along with the fabled 2002 error. While the server queues are long, the 2002 server error causes players to crash out of the login queue. If the player is not quick enough to jump back into the queue, then they will lose their position. It has happened to us at WePC several times this weekend.

Because of the congestion and the frequent error codes making an appearance, it seems the devs want to compensate us. When Endwalker officially releases on December 7, the devs will award players with 7 days of free game time to those who own the full version of the game and are already paying an active subscription. This includes the players who are currently using their 30 days of free game time which you get for buying the most recent expansion and are moving from new player status.

Morso, the developers have mentioned that if the game has further issues post-launch, they’ll hand out more free game time to compensate for the issues. We do not know when or how much more free time we will get, as that is getting an announcement at a later date.

All in all, it’s great to see Square Enix and Yoshi so sympathetic to the players of the game.
