The latest Apple iPhone iOS 16 patch has now been released: iOS 16.0.2

Does iOS 16 have bugs?
There have unfortunately been numerous issues reported since the launch of iOS 16. iOS 16 bugs include issues with strange vibration when using the rear camera with certain applications and focusing problems when taking pictures, the display randomly turning to black, and a constant prompt notification for permission to access the clipboard every time users wish to copy and paste. On iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 devices there’s also been some reported problems with the touch input not working correctly.
Probably the biggest issue however that people are struggling with is the big hit to battery stability since iOS 16 came in place (more on this below).
iOS 16.0.2 battery performance: is iOS 16 draining battery?
As you can see in the below Twitter posts, the Apple iPhone iOS 16 update caused substantial issues with battery stability and battery life drain. Not only was battery life cut by a substantial margin, but some users even reported their iPhones heating up. The iOS 16.0.2 battery performance is unlikely to be much better, unfortunately (though there may be some improvements). It’s likely we’ll have to wait for the 16.1 update to correct these issues, and maybe even longer until we see battery performance to the standard we did in late iOS 15 versions.
What does iOS 16.0.2 do?
iOS 16.0.2 is an update that fixes several bugs and issues since the release of the stable build of iOS 16 back on September 12th, 2022, including the camera vibration problems, screen blackout issues, and copy & paste problems.

Apple gave the following iOS 16.0.2 release notes upon the release of the latest update, which goes into exactly what issues this update fixes.
This update provides bug fixes and important security updates for your iPhone including the following:
- Camera may vibrate and cause blurry photos when shooting with some third-party apps on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
- Display may appear completely black during device setup
- Copy and paste between apps may cause a permission prompt to appear more than expected
- VoiceOver may be unavailable after rebooting
- Addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 displays after being serviced
How to download iOS 16.0.2
Downloading iOS 16.0.2 is easy peasy, it’s just the same procedure as every other iOS update:
- Go to Settings in your iPhone
- Tap General
- Tap Software Update
- Tap Download and Install
- You may be asked to enter your Passcode. Once done, agree to the terms and conditions then tap Agree to confirm.
