What is the Overwatch 2 Beta Login Error?

It’s pretty much what it says on the tin; an error message that is prompted when you – for whatever reason – can not log in to a server.

See below for example:

I’m calling it the red screen of death and, yep, you guessed it, a tonne of console players are experiencing it during the initial Beta gameplay testing.

The Login Error normally comes up when you’re about to connect to a server – after a short while, the connection procedure will terminate and you’ll be left looking at the above screen. Sexy.

But how exactly do you fix this?

Below we’re going to go over some of the more common causes for Login Error (failed to connect to game server) issues.

Check your internet connection

The first, and probably most successful, way to fix the annoying “Login Error” bug is to make sure your internet connection is up and running. While unlikely, there is a chance that your internet could have gone down during the loading process – leading to this annoying error.

Before executing the perfect flying headbutt into your monitor or TV, go to your router and make sure everything is as it should be. Better yet, give the old girl a quick restart (leaving it 3 minutes). This should help stabilize your connection and could resolve some annoying connection issues you’re experiencing.

Try reconnecting to the server

One of the main causes of server connection issues, especially with new games, is due to the sheer number of players trying to connect to them. This is likely the main cause of Login Error issues with the new Overwatch 2 Beta. `

The only way to resolve this is to simply reconnect to the game server. You may have to do this a couple of times, but if the problem is too many players trying to join at once, this should result in a successful connection.

Wait for Blizzard to resolve the issue

If all fails, be sure to keep an eye on the Overwatch 2 official Twitter page – where they will likely update players with any major server problems. If the game is experiencing server problems, you’ll just have to wait for Blizzard to resolve the issue before jumping back into the action.
