We’ve compiled all of the details on the Tekken 8 gameplay for you right here.

Check out the details below.

Tekken 8 Gameplay Revealed

We finally got the chance to see some gameplay of the next Tekken game. During Evo 2022, we had a brief teaser showing off some graphics from the game.

Now, we’ve had a decent look at some real combat gameplay. The new gameplay depicts Jin Kazama fighting his dad (again,) but the key factor is that we got to see just how shiny and smooth the graphics look.

It’s looking like Tekken 8 will be the best-looking game in the long-running fighting series. The ability to fully utilize fancy lighting engines with the new PS5 hardware has clearly been a great boon to the gameplay.

You can check out the gameplay yourself above. The footage is all real-time rendered and is taken from the actual story, according, so it will presumably be this smooth in real life too.

Tekken 8 Platforms and Release Predictions

Tekken 8 Gameplay Combat Gameplay

Tekken 8 is far confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Steam. The news was confirmed in the trailer above and is a sign that we’ll get to see a simultaneous multi-platform release, despite being shown off first at State of Play in September 2022.

The biggest question is whether or not we’ll get an Arcade release. Typically, the arcade version of a Tekken game will be available in arcades a year or two before the console/PC release. However, if that’s true, we’re still ages away from a release.

It seems more likely that the game will be coming to arcades at the same time as the general release or slightly after it. The gameplay reveal was real-time rendered footage taken directly from the main story, so clearly, it’s pretty far along.

Chances are that we’ll get a release date in early 2023, but when it will be is a movable feast. We’re probably looking at Summer 2023 at the very earliest, or more likely, late 2023/early 2024.

Tekken 7 Latest Update

Luckily, while we don’t have a release date for Tekken 8 just yet, we did get a recent update to Tekken 7. The latest update included balancing updates, as well as some quality of life upgrades like displaying your connection quality.

The biggest balance changes were made to Fahkumram, a character known for his Muay Thai style of fighting. According to the patch notes, the character’s hitbox was out of whack, causing enemy attacks to miss when they should have hit.

With any luck, Tekken 8 will also see constant updates to keep the game alive for years to come.
