Microsoft recently announced the launch of its AI-driven Microsoft 365 Copilot, leaving many people wondering whether it is available to students for free.

The Microsoft 365 Education and Microsoft 365 Copilot are two distinct tools, and it is important to clarify whether or not Copilot version of Microsoft 365 is available for free to students.

It is widely known that Microsoft 365 Education is a popular suite of tools that offers students, teachers, and educators alike a comprehensive range of applications and services.

This suite encompasses some of the most widely used software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams.

Is 365 Copilot going to be free for students?

It is unclear whether the recently integrated Copilot application into Microsoft 365 powered by GPT-4 is available free of charge to students or not.

While the majority of these AI writing assistants are typically offered for free to students, it is uncertain if this applies to the Copilot-integrated Microsoft 365 as well.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is an intuitive tool that simplifies the process of document creation and is designed to perform a variety of tasks depending on the application in use, such as programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Copilot streamlines complex operations by automating them for improved efficiency and accuracy.

At present, it is not available to the general public and so is the case for students. Microsoft plans to release the full application in the coming months. While there is no confirmation on whether Microsoft Copilot is free for students.

This cutting-edge technology is only available to those who have been handpicked for the testing process.

To my understanding, Microsoft 365 Copilot is currently being tested exclusively by select individuals and businesses, and it is not available for free or paid access to students or anyone else except the selected users and companies.

When will Microsoft 365 Copilot be available to students?

While it is confirmed that Microsoft’s new AI platform, Copilot, will be integrated into Microsoft 365 apps including Microsoft 365 Education in the near future, there is no confirmation on its release date or pricing plan.

For students, it is important to note that Microsoft’s suite of apps can be accessed for free through their specialized online platform or via their college or university.

However, it is highly unlikely that Copilot will be available for free. Microsoft has stated that more information on pricing and licensing will be shared soon, but until then, we can only speculate on the cost of this updated version of Microsoft 365.
