If you are looking for a game that gets the blood flowing and the heart pumping, then Dead By Daylight might be the game for you. As you desperately try to avoid a homicidal killer, you might be thinking it could be done much easier with friends by your side. Well, now you don’t even need to worry about what platform your friends play on, as Dead By Daylight supports crossplay functionality.

Now, crossplay functionality hasn’t always been as straightforward as you would expect. Having said that, we’ve yet to come across any issues using this functionality in Dead By Daylight, having tested it across PlayStation, PC, and Xbox Series X. Let us show you exactly how to work the crossplay functionality below.

Does Dead by Daylight support crossplay?

Yes. Quite simply Dead By Daylight supports crossplay functionality and has since August 13th, 2020. You no longer need to cross your fingers and wish to the stars that you are matched with a fully functioning, highly skilled team of random players across the world. Instead, you can message your friends and connect with them in-game, regardless of what platform they are using.

Which consoles support crossplay functionality?

As good as friends you might be, everyone has their preferences, and unfortunately agreeing on a single platform to all play a game is incredibly difficult. Luckily, Dead By Daylight’s crossplay functionality supports practically all of the platforms you would want:

  • PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One & Xbox S/Xbox X
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PC (Steam and Microsoft Store)

Yes, even Nintendo Switch players can join in on the fun. Don’t worry about finding the perfect team to blitz through the game, grab your best friends and unite as one!

Search for your friend’s Dead by Daylight ID

Finally, search for your friend using the Dead by Daylight ID code. This will be their username followed by a unique number code. For example, dbdgamer#1234.

Your friend can find their ID at the top of their friends list, so make sure you’ve got this information ready.

If done correctly, their username will show up and you can send a friend request/invitation.

It’s literally that simple, and once you have selected your friend once you won’t ever have to do it again. Now you can invite them to your game without any trouble. Remember, DBD does not support in-game chat, so make sure you’re all in a Discord group before you head into the game.

Note: Another way of finding your Dead by Daylight ID is by going to Settings and it should appear in the bottom left of the screen.

What about mobile gamers and crossplay?

Unfortunately, if you are playing DBD on either Android or iOS, you can play across mobile devices but you cannot connect with friends who are playing on either PC or console.

How to turn off Dead By Daylight crossplay functionality

If you are looking to luck it out with a random bunch of people or simply don’t wish to play with players from other platforms, then you can turn off crossplay by simply heading into the settings menu, scrolling down to the ‘online’ settings area, and unchecking the ‘cross-play option in-game.

That’s all for today folks, now go and enjoy DBD with your friends!
