The ROG Ally has been quite the popular choice of handheld since its release, a more powerful alternative to the Steam Deck it has some benefits. Now if you’re interested in particular games you might want to know if it’s plausible. As such can you play Valorant on the ASUS ROG Ally?
Quite simply, yes you can. There are videos of plenty of users running the game on the Ally, such as Hitech Century. It runs at over 100FPS on the device and is an effective way to play the game. Although you’re probably better off running the game with a mouse and keyboard, as the game does not support controllers natively. We doubt you’d want to try your hand at using the touchscreen or joysticks and buttons to try and win some games.
Either way, the AMD Ryzen handheld gaming PC has plenty to offer compared to the likes of the Valve SteamDeck running on SteamOS or the underpowered Nintendo Switch. How to install Valorant on the ROG Ally
Valorant is now different from other titles, and you can install and download it like any other game. It is the same as on any other Windows platform since that is what the Ally natively runs. As a portable Windows machine, you can use it like another gaming PC.
To install the game it’s really easy:
- Head to the Valorant website
- There press play now, and you’ll have to sign in to download the game
- Once it has been downloaded you can go through the installation process accepting various conditions
- Then you have to wait for it to download and install, including the rootkit the game uses as the anti-cheat
- Once that is all done you’ll likely need to restart and login to the app and you’re ready to go
Alternatively, if you have Xbox Game Pass on the Ally you can also install the game through there. Since Microsoft and Riot teamed up to bring those games onto the platform, this makes it simpler and easier instead of going first party but both will give you a great way to play the game on the go or on the couch.
The graphics provided by the hardware should be quite sufficient for the small screen, or you can always dock it too for desktop usage. The performance mode should also provide a good boost for the GPU on the Zen Extreme APU. That is as long as you have enough storage to play it all as well but with some tinkering and upgrades you can improve that all.
