In TV manufacturers battle against motion blur they have equipped TVs with something called motion interpolation which inserts extra frames to fight unwanted blurriness. It may have a branded name on your TV but this should be easy enough to look up. We keep our top picks as updated as possible, and we currently recommend the LG C3 and Samsung S95C.

The LG C3 is one of our favorite TVs and we’re all excitedly awaiting the release date of the LG C4, its successor. For now though the C3 remains top dog and its pretty damn good at dealing with motion blur. To set the level of motion interpolation on your LG C3 you need only go to TruMotion in the TV settings and adjust according to your preference. LG have also included a black frame insertion feature, which is another way of helping to reduce motion, they call that OLED motion. These features, combines with the LG C3’s excellent refresh rate mean that it is excellent at mitigating motion blur and you can adjust the levels based on what you like. Ideal for gaming alongside the 120Hz refresh rate via HDMI 2.1.
We previously reviewed the LG C2 OLED TV and the LG C3 pretty much does everything the C2 can do, but a little better. It admittedly wasn’t a massive improvement over the 2nd generation C-Series OLED, so you can still find the C2 if you want something a little cheaper these days thanks to its age.

The Samsung S95B is also up there with our favorite TVs at the moment. Like the LG C2 the S95B has a couple of great built in features to help combat motion blur. Again motion interpolation and black frame insertion are presentand can be adjusted. In this you can find these features under Picture Clarity settings and black frame insertion is known as LED Clear Motion. These features go a long way to canceling out motion blur making this a great TV for the job.

- Great value for money
- Motionflow XR 240 for solid motion handling
- Crisp 4K visuals
- Exclusive features for PS5
- Lower 60Hz refresh rate
- LED backlighting
If you’re looking to save some cash, we present to you the Sony X80K. This is the much lower-specced LED backlight equivalent to their OLED A80K series – so instead consider that for that if you’re set on finding a high-quality OLED panel like our other top picks. Moving on though to the X80K and it provides excellent motion handling support via Sony’s Motionflow XR 240 technology. This is another 4K display – we wouldn’t recommend any TV lower than that these days, backed up by solid 4K upscaling too. You get all the smart TV functionality you’d expect with Google TV for all your favorite streaming services. One of the drawbacks here is the 60Hz refresh rate, so not as natively smooth but the motion handling is still good regardless – lookout for settings such as CineMotion and Motionflow smoothness settings.
Which TVs have the best motion handling?
Many of the best TV brands offer good motion handling solutions. Sony is one brand which is popular for motion handling – plenty of praise can be found in this Reddit thread. We’d suggest going for an OLED TV if you want excellent motion handling due to being highly responsive with sub-1ms response times. This helps eliminate blurriness, ghosting, and any other unwanted effects of that nature. If you don’t quite have the budget to afford a premium OLED television though, then there are still good options available to you.
With brands like LG, Samsung, and Sony featuring their TruMotion, LED Clear Motion, and Motionflow XR technologies for their respective TVs, plenty is going on behind the scenes to ensure superb motion handling. Good interpolation when mixed with a high refresh rate feeds the best results – perfect for watching sports, playing fast-paced video games, or smoothing out choppy/low-framerate content such as action movies or old tv shows. Though you may want to avoid the ‘soap opera effect’ which looks unnaturally smooth.
