Computex is taking place this week, in an event full of exciting announcements and reveals. ASUS in particular are busy – this time revealing their ‘Hidden Connector Concept’ model which can hide a VGA auxiliary power cable from view. In fact, there is even more to learn about this particular development from over in Taipei, which is where this year’s event is taking place.
This Hidden Connector Concept neatly tucks away the auxiliary power cable for your graphics card around the back of the motherboard, providing some neat and tidy cable management solutions. This is massively handy if you want to keep cables away from components to avoid any rattling or the like. You especially don’t want them lingering around fans.
This design is especially great with another ASUS concept model: the RTX 4070 Hidden-Connector Concept VGA.
ASUS Hidden Connector Concept model motherboard
This concept model motherboard from ASUS means that you can hide main connectors and pin heads for your hardware around the back of the board. ASUS had actually already announced a similar motherboard design back in March with the TUF Gaming B760M-BTF WIFI D4, and this new model revealed at Computex builds upon the idea of minimizing unsightly cables.
The difference with this new motherboard – named the TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS Hidden-Connector – is that it provides another slot for 12VHPWR power, so the auxiliary power cable for your graphics card can be wired around the back side of the board.
It’s not just the 12VHPWR connector that can be tucked away though, SATA ports and motherboard pin headers are also mounted on the rear.
As you can see below, there are no slots or connectors requiring cables on the surface of the board. As well as that, there is a dedicated connector for your power supply besides a PCI Express 5.0 (x16) slot. The images below are sourced from Japanese outlet Hermitage Akihabara.
RTX 4070 Hidden Connector Concept VGA GPU
As mentioned, this is designed for use with the an RTX 4070 Hidden-Connector model for minimal cable management. This concept VGA model doesn’t have an auxiliary power connector and instead connects seemingly straight to the power supply. This removes the need to use a cable at all, as such.
There is a PCIe power connection on the GPU, located on the underside of the component. When connected to this concept motherboard, that means you are drawing power from the hidden connectors which are tucked away behind the board, so from the front, it looks like no cables are involved at all.
