You might be thinking, us here at WePC are just unsophisticated gamers. All we focus on is high-refresh rates and the razzamatazz of the latest and greatest, graphics heavy titles from Bethesda, Ubisoft et al. But let me tell you one thing, that just ain’t true. And the more senior among the team have nothing but respect for a carefully calibrated color-accurate monitor, and for good reason.

You may have noticed that WePC has one heck of a TikTok presence, we work diligently here producing top-notch quality content, to tight deadlines, and to spec at a rapid rate, with a team of consummate professionals, video editors and presenters, covering everything surrounding the latest hardware launches and more. Vast reams of video footage are recorded on a weekly basis, and all of it requires editing. Color-accuracy in that regard is of tantamount importance. We need to know that what we’re seeing is what our clients and our fans will see. No sir, there’s no room here for dodgy knock-off TN panels, with as wide a color gamut as a coconut is square. Absolutely not. We need monitors that represent crystal clear color as close to real-life as it can get, and ones we know are right, again and again and again.

Take away that immediate worry, know your content is flawlessly color graded each and every time, and it makes the process that much easier. There’s no guess-work involved, no sending content to friends and family to see how it holds up under the scrutiny of a mobile OLED or HDR display, just flawless form from the get-go. And it’s that, that allows us to output as much quality content as we do, saving time and money in the process. Because trust us, there’s nothing worse than sending out a new TikTok, thinking that nice clean white Strix board is flawless, only for it to turn up on a viewer’s phone a dull cream hue instead. Delightful.

That’s where ASUS ProArt comes in. It is without a doubt, one of the most reliable brands out there when it comes to providing reliable and flawless solutions for the color-enthused creative looking to push their content to the limit, and a cornerstone of our working process. Particularly its monitor line-up. On top of that, ProArt monitors come with a 3 month Adobe CC membership as standard as well.

ASUS ProArt PA279CRV

ASUS ProArt PA279CRV

The PA279CRV is the absolute cornerstone of our editing setup. And why wouldn’t it be? This 27” 4K display packs some serious specs into its subtle form. We’re talking a full 10-bit IPS panel, complete with 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, support for HDR10, and some seriously impressive color metric stats to boot. 100% sRGB? Done. 99% Adobe RGB? Done. 99% DCI-P3? Done son. There’s not a metric that this monitor doesn’t tick straight out of the box, that doesn’t make us weak at the knees. In fact straight out of the factory this thing is certified by Calman as being color accurate, and that ain’t no small feat. Combine that with USB-C support, DisplayPort, HDMI, and a USB hub. For our video editing team, zipping in and out of the edit booths, it’s a fantastically versatile screen.

But let’s not beat around the bush here. We can wax lyrical on stats and specs all day, but the true test of a monitor’s worth is when you start using it. And the thing is, the PA279CRV is just an absolute beauty, with crisp inky blacks and fantastically well developed color profiles all round. Combine all of that, with an incredibly sleek design, intuitive menus and that ASUS 5 year warranty (3 years as standard, but you can extend that by registering your monitor here), and without a doubt this panel is just one of the best in the biz.

Now we know what you’re thinking, tiny screens? For artworking? Why? Well one of the big reasons is travel (particularly for events, Computex and CES anyone?) Sadly, we can’t take a full editing suite with us to a hotel in Taiwan, although we’ve certainly tried over the years, so the next best thing for that is a high-end laptop and these two beauties.

Specifically we use a combo of the PA169CDV, and the PA147CDV. Although don’t get them mixed up, these two products serve entirely different purposes. The PA16 is, perhaps somewhat, more of a traditional screen. In fact it’s not too dissimilar to the PA27 above (you’ll find this with a lot of the ProArt monitors), highly calibrated, IPS panel, but notably it comes in at 16” with a 4K display for an impressive 282 pixel density. Contrast is a little lower peaking at 1200:1 (still far superior to pretty much 90% of the IPS monitor market) as well, but it still hits that 100% sRGB color space nicely. Notably though, given its high density, this makes it perfect for simulating what content will look like on phone screens.

One other neat feature that the PA169CDV supports is full compatibility with WACOM pens and software as well. So if digital drawing is more your professional wheelhouse, it’ll have you covered there as well.

The PA147CDV is a bit of a different beast entirely. Coming in with a very unique 32:9 aspect ratio, it packs a 1920×550 resolution into its display, again color calibrated to a T. But the unique element here is how it operates more as a digital dashboard than anything else, we predominantly use this with Premiere Pro to display our editing timeline, but you can use it for media enjoyment (read: Spotify), audio mixing, design work, you name it. It’s an incredibly versatile piece of kit. It’s even got a scroll wheel attached to it (we use this for scrubbing through content predominantly). Either way, this is an incredibly valuable tool, one we wouldn’t be able to do without on the road (or sneakily in the office as well).

The MD300 is incredibly versatile, and it’s all about those scroll wheels. Namely, it’s got three of the beauties. The obvious one on top, and then impressively two on the left-hand side. One you can roll up and down, the other circular you can move back and forward, and they both click as well. All of those can be bound to different functions as well. Again, scrubbing through video on your shiny new PA147CDV, yeah you can do that. Bound it to photoshop zoom? Easy as. Need it to control audio levels, sure, why not.

It’s the connectivity that’s the real show-stopper though, and with RF 2.4 GHz connectivity, Bluetooth and USB you’re absolutely golden with this sleek little number. Couple it with a reliable optical sensor, 4200 CPI max sensitivity, and a 150 hour battery life at full charge, and it’s just flawless for any creative out there.

The Full Suite

And there you have it folks, it’s hard to take away from just this brief explainer how valuable these ASUS products are to our workflow, but honestly, the results speak for themselves. Take a look at some of our work on TikTok, Amazon, YouTube and more, and you’ll see just how important it is for us to have dependable displays, and tools that allow us to really take advantage of our workflow process.

You can check out all of ASUS’s ProArt line here for even more options where you can pick up anything from a 34” Ultrawide variant to the tiny PA14 we discussed earlier and everything in between. Ultimately, if you’re after the very best in color-accurate display tech, then ASUS’s ProArt line is honestly an absolute must for your studio.
