Best Gaming PC

Building the best gaming PC is actually a very easy thing to do, however, everyone’s definition of what’s “the best” can be different. To cater to this, we are going to build a gaming PC where performance and value meet in the middle, giving the masses an affordable machine that can tackle any AAA game you throw its way.

Grabbing yourself one of the best gaming PCs out there is going to give you an exemplary gaming experience for years to come. The best in this class often feature the latest, high-end components, capable of high FPS results, across a multitude of titles in max settings.

Anyway enough preamble, let’s take a look at the best gaming PC build.

What You Get For Your Money

As previously mentioned, we aren’t aiming to build a PC that costs a fortune here, we want to build a quality gaming PC that many can enjoy, for a reasonable amount of money.

With this in mind, we are going to be trying to keep the overall budget to around $1,500. At this price point, you will, without a doubt, have one of the best gaming PCs out there. Sure, it may lose out to the more expensive builds but the price-to-performance is in the sweet spot here and this build will provide you with everything you need to get a high-end experience.

Performance

You may expect the best gaming PC build to be able to handle every game, in any setting, at any resolution but remember, we are aiming for an affordable yet high-quality experience.

At the heart of this PC sits a powerful Ryzen desktop CPU with a proven track record of being one of the best on the market. To support the processor, one of Nvidia’s latest 30-series GPUs takes the stage, providing you with high FPS counts in esports titles, and incredible detail for those single-player games.

The performance is further enhanced thanks to an adequate amount of fast RAM for gaming and fast storage, giving you snappy boot and load times.

How We Choose

The team here at WePC has years of combined building and, of course, gaming experience, allowing us to make astute recommendations to our friends, families, and readers. All of our custom gaming PC recommendations are backed with careful research and benchmarking to ensure the products we suggest are actually the best for the job. We work tirelessly to update and keep every build recommendation as up-to-date as possible, even when items go out of stock we will be there to fill the gap with appropriate replacements.

We are always looking for value for money and try to focus on performance over just flashy looks, ensuring your hard-earned cash isn’t going to be squandered.

NOTE: Due to the ongoing effects of the global coronavirus pandemic, some retailers are experiencing stock issues. WePC constantly updates our pages to reflect current availability, so if the PC you want shows as out of stock, check back later or check out these alternatives.

How We Test

We build all our custom PC build recommendations in-house at the WePC office, making sure all the components are compatible and work in unison for the best gaming experience.

Once built, we put these custom PC’s through their paces, benchmarking a wide selection of the most popular and demanding titles. It isn’t just gaming we focus on, we like to test our PCs for general work scenarios from lightweight to heavy-duty tasks.

We know some of our readers like to overclock systems and push the price to performance even further, so we ensure that we test this too. This can leave you reassured that the components can handle this extra push in power and nothing will break down the line.

Now to the most important part of a gaming PC, the GPU. We have gone for one of the latest GPUs from Nvidia’s RTX 30-series – The RTX 3060Ti. This GPU features 12GB of VRAM, RGB illumination, an impressive cooling solution, and will push high frame rates for esports games while also providing an excellent gaming experience in those more demanding AAA titles.

Samsung’s 980 features a write speed up to 3,500 and a read speed of 3,000. The 980 comes with a 1TB capacity giving you more than enough room for quite some time.

The Phanteks P360A is an excellent PC case for the price. This case features a full mesh panel at the front and 2 x DRGB fans, giving you aesthetics and airflow straight out of the box, plus it matches the CPU cooler.

Lastly, we need a reliable power supply to bring this build to life. We have gone with the EVGA 600W BQ PSU, which is more than enough to deal with the new RTX 30-series GPU and other components in this build.

This PSU is semi-modular and has a bronze efficiency rating.

Things To Consider

It doesn’t matter if you are going to build yourself the best gaming PC or buying a prebuilt, there are several important things to consider before you make that final purchase. As the best gaming PC obviously isn’t cheap, it is crucial you do your research and make sure this PC suits your needs. In this section, we are going to go over a few of these key areas to help you make the right decision and get you in that server with a big smile on your face.

What Is The Best Gaming PC?

What constitutes as the best gaming PC really boils down to your own preferences but if we had to slap a definition on it then it would be a PC with the latest and greatest components. Of course, if we could, we would all love to have a $3000+ gaming computer but we understand that everyone has different budgets to work with. With that in mind, we decided to build a PC that offers incredible value, making it the best PC for a wider variety of gamers.

Is The Best Gaming PC Worth It?

The short answer, for a wide selection of gamers, is almost always yes. Having the best gaming PC means you won’t have to make so many compromises with graphical settings and run any game you desire.

When it comes to the best, it would be very easy to stuff this full of the most expensive components available but that simply isn’t what the majority of us do, we shop for value. there starts to be a diminishing return the higher up you go but we feel this build sits nicely in the sweet spot, giving you an excellent gaming experience for years to come.

Best Gaming PC Build Vs Prebuilt

We always recommend that you build your own computer here at WePC and that is for one simple reason – value.  It is no secret that you can squeeze in better hardware for your cash when building your own system, with the markup on prebuilt computers usually costing the same amount as an entire component ($100-$300).

Performance

While the performance of the best gaming PC is never in doubt, when building your own you could in theory include a better CPU or GPU into your computer for less. This means you could get even better performance for your hard-earned cash, get better in-game results, and future-proof your investment for longer.

Convenience

The main selling point behind a prebuilt gaming PC is it saves you the hassle. We understand that not everyone knows how to build a computer and may not even have the time to learn this new skill, so the convenience of a prebuilt makes a lot of sense. Of course, there are many more benefits to buying a prebuilt gaming PC from manufacturers, obviously, it takes the stresses away from finding all the compatible components, while also preventing damage to said components when the time comes to build it.

With a prebuilt gaming PC, you are going to be able to send it back to the manufacturer if anything goes wrong. Furthermore, if you feel you need an upgrade, suppliers will often do this for you or at least insist you send it to them for an upgrade. Manufacturers will also dish out a warranty, usually covering parts and labor for around a year but some companies offer impressive warranties and you can always spend extra on insurance, giving you a lengthy/ lifetime warranty.

These computers are from the biggest manufacturers around the world and aren’t just packaged nicely for you either, they normally stress test the system to ensure the components are working before shipping and that it performs as it should. You will also receive your system with software, usually with Windows and drivers pre-installed, so you can simply plug it in and start downloading games.

Note: These will raise the price of the build!

OS

To finish off your PC build, you’ll want to buy Windows 10 or carry over your installation from a retail license. Of course, you can still get Windows 10 on DVD if you prefer.

Gaming Mouse

The Xtrfy M42 RGB is arguably one of the best lightweight gaming mice on the market. The safe shape, indentations, grooves, and even the texture of the plastic make this a supremely comfortable mouse for a wide selection of hand sizes and grip styles.

The aesthetics are magnificent, the performance is flawless but on top of that, we see a mouse here packed with features to satisfy even the biggest of mice critics.

Gaming Monitor

For those that want to maximize this PC’s potential, the Alienware AW2721D gaming monitor is the best way to go. This comes with a 240Hz refresh rate, a 1440p resolution, 1ms response time, and G-Sync, which may be overkill but it is certainly one of the best.

Gaming with Wi-Fi is fine but many still prefer a hard-wired internet connection. Wireless can put you at a disadvantage sometimes but a wired connection never falters.
