Corsair Headsets: A Buyers Guide

Whether you are playing your games on PC or consoles, using a headset is a great way to bring your games to life. Of course, you could just use a standard set of computer speakers, but the extra features and comfort a headset will give you can’t be overstated.

These headsets are a great way to get closer to the action in your games. Headsets offer a great level of sound fidelity that can really up the immersion factor in open-world games. If competitive gaming is more your style, the ability to hear your opponents coming will help keep you ahead.

Headsets often come with more than just two speakers attached to your ears. Higher-end models can include noise-canceling software, wireless functionality, and a microphone to help you communicate with your teammates.

Why Buy A Corsair Headset?

You may have been on the fence for a while when it comes to buying a headset, maybe you’ve had bad experiences in the past or have simply been overwhelmed by the thousands of choices on Amazon.

A great way to narrow down your search is to buy from a retailer that you trust to deliver good quality components. Corsair are famous in the technology world for doing just this, you no doubt have either heard of them or even own a few of their products already! With a product portfolio that includes mice, keyboards, CPU coolers, RAM, power supplies, and headsets, Corsair is one of the most recognizable brands in the tech world.

They have a range of headsets to suit different buyers that include wireless gaming headsets, USB gaming headsets, 3.5 mm gaming headsets, and even headset stands that double as desktop DAC amplifiers to store them on!

Where Can You Buy A Corsair Headset?

If you’ve settled on buying a Corsair headset or would perhaps like to just have a look, there are a couple of ways you could do it.

A good way to start would be to take a look at the official Corsair website. They have a list of all of their products as well as in-depth overviews, tech specs, and links to buy. While official manufacturer sites often show a lot of promotional material, this is still a good way to get an idea of what each pair of headphones can offer.

Online shopping sites such as Amazon will allow you to narrow your search by brand and will also have the added benefit of having verified customer reviews. You’ll also be able to find Corsair headsets on here that are older models than those on the official website. This is a great way to save a bit of cash if you don’t need the latest model.

Which Corsair Headset Is Best for You?

Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE

Tech Specs

  • Frequency Response – 20 Hz – 40 kHz
  • Connection Type – Wireless – up to 20 hours
  • Weight – 371 g

One of Corsair’s most popular options is the Virtuoso RGB Wireless model. This headset has a great design and is made of luxurious and resilient materials which gives it a sturdy and stylish finish.

The sound quality of these headphones is also a check in the positives column. While not making any huge waves in its price point, these headphones have a warm sound profile and an impressive amount of bass accuracy. You can also further adjust the audio experience by using the EQ tweaking software – something that we highly recommend doing.

With an impressive listed battery life of up to 20 hours, you won’t find yourself charging these as much as you’d think. It’s easy enough to pop them back on charge after a play session or even use them as a set of wired headphones if need be with the included USB-C cable. This will also result in an improved level of sound quality.

The microphone has a frequency range of 100 Hz to 10 kHz and is easily one of the most impressive microphones we’ve seen on a headset. The microphone is easy to adjust and can be completely disconnected if needed. The low profile of this microphone also keeps it out of your line of sight when gaming which is a huge plus.

Corsair HS60

Tech Specs

  • Frequency Response – 20 Hz – 20 kHz
  • Connection Type – 3.5 mm –  1.8 m cable
  • Weight – 317 g

If you want a high-quality headset that won’t break the bank you’ll have to forgo some of the nice features that higher-end models offer. The good thing is, while the Corsair HS60 model certainly makes some cutbacks when compared to it’s bigger brothers, it’s still an excellent option for gamers.

Although this model isn’t wireless, you do get a generous length of cable to play with and the 3.5 mm jack can help free up some of those USB ports if needed – you might want to consider running your headphones through an amplifier if you can though.

The memory foam headband is comfortable enough that you’ll be able to wear these earphones for hours on end and there is a good level of adjustability in the earcups. While this is a lower-priced headset, the build quality doesn’t really suffer, we could easily see these lasting a long time, especially as they are made of strong, lightweight materials .

Another great feature is that the microphone is completely detachable when you don’t need to use it. As well as being removable, the microphone is also of good quality and performs almost as good as the more expensive headsets.

Corsair HS70 SE Wireless

Tech Specs

  • Frequency Response – 20 Hz – 20 kHz
  • Connection Type – Wireless – up to 16 hours
  • Weight – 330 g

Another great wireless headset that Corsair offers is the HS70 SE model. Corsair has blended great quality sound, a wireless design and good value for money which makes this a good all-rounder for those who don’t want to splurge.

The HS70 SE headset features a classic, minimalist design with a leather memory foam headband for ultimate comfort. This is a great look for those who want to use this headset on the move and don’t want it to stick out.

In terms of sound quality, this headset boasts 50mm neodymium dynamic drivers for the earcups which provide a well-balanced listening experience. The sound quality is clear and crisp with hardly any distortion. The 7.1 surround sound on offer here isn’t the best, but it’s hard to criticize for this price.

One of our only gripes with this headset is the microphone. This microphone does let the headset down a little as it doesn’t deliver the best sound quality out there. However, if you can see past this and the slightly short battery life, this headset will be a great budget purchase that will look great in any gaming setup.

Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless

Tech Specs

  • Frequency Response – 20 Hz – 20 kHz
  • Connection Type – Wireless –  up to 16 hours
  • Weight – 390 g

If you are after something a bit flashier and are a fan of RGB lighting, the Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless model is a great pick.

While the RGB only appears on the small logos on the side of each earphone, it’s still a nice touch without being too distracting while gaming. With an eye-catching angular design, this headset is built with breathable microfiber mesh fabric which reduces heat build-up and memory foam for fantastic comfort which is great for long gaming sessions.

This headset features 50mm neodymium speaker drivers and Dolby 7.1 surround sound which helps to create an immersive experience. With this headset, you can pinpoint exactly where sounds are coming from which gives any gamer a fantastic advantage when playing competitively.

The sound quality on offer is mirrored by the quality of the microphone which delivers crystal clear audio. All of this could set you back a lot but this Corsair headset is surprisingly affordable and can be picked up for around $100. It’d make a great choice for anyone who loves good design and fantastic audio.

Things to Consider

Price Range

One of the great things about buying a headset is that you don’t have to spend an extortionate amount of money to get a good quality unit. We’ve made sure to include a couple of budget selections in our roundup today as well as some of the models that are truly top of the line.

If you’re looking to pick up a headset, you should budget it in the range of $40 – $200 depending on whether you are looking for a budget, mid-range, or high-end option. The higher you get up the price range will generally give you better sound and microphone quality, comfier headphones, and extra features such as noise-canceling technology.

Sound Quality

Of course, one of your primary concerns will be to pick up a headset that makes your games sound great. Every headset will sound different, some will offer a neutral sound whereas others may be heavy on the mids or bass.

This is also an important thing to consider if you’re planning on using these headphones for more than just gaming. You may decide to use these headphones as part of your commute or just to sit back and listen to some music without disturbing others. It’s well worth checking out a couple of reviews to see just how well the sound quality holds up if this is important to you.

Comfort

We all know that gaming sessions can tend to get a little long! That’s one of the main reasons you should invest in a set of headphones that are both light and comfortable. There’s nothing worse than starting to get fatigued from wearing headphones for so long, especially if you’re relying on them to help you out in a competitive game and can’t afford to take them off.

Ideally, you’ll want a set of headphones that are light enough to not hurt your ears and breathable to avoid any sweating or excessive heat around the ears.

Features

As most of these headsets include a microphone for you to use in games, making sure that the headphones have the ability to mute it on demand is a great feature to have. Other features to look out for can include:

  • Detachable microphones
  • Folding headphones
  • Noise-canceling software
  • Wireless functionality
  • Additional battery packs
  • RGB lighting

While you’ll pay a bit of a premium for some of these features, they can really set apart the best from the rest.

Not Quite Set On Corsair?

If you can’t make a decision on any of these headsets, don’t worry! There are lots of brands out there that offer great quality products at similar prices. If you want to expand your search to other manufacturers, brands such as Logitech, Razer, Steelseries, and Turtle Beach are all highly rated in the headset world.

It’s well worth your time to absorb as many reviews as you can and if possible, try on some of these headsets in the wild. You never know, you might be dead set on a headset, only to find it just doesn’t sit comfortably on your head!
