Some of us here at WePC (not naming any names) have been gaming out of, what many would call, a sub-par setup for quite some time.

We too aspire to the greatness of the gaming room ideas below but when your desk isn’t even big enough for the mouse pad, what chance have you got? Setups are nothing new here, we have already run through some of the greatest gaming setups out there, some minimal, others over the top, and the occasional piece of trash.

There are so many gaming room ideas available online now that you can gather quite a lot of inspiration from just a few clicks, with ideas for high-end and cheap gaming setups plastered all over message boards, social media, and YouTube.

This article isn’t going to be making any recommendations but it is going to be offering motivation for gamers looking to spice up their current setup or those new to PC gaming entirely. We will browse through the ultimate gaming setup, color scheme setups, and console gaming setups, all the way down to the downright rotten.

Are you stuck for gaming room ideas?

For many, the video game room is regarded as their safe space, a palace, an escape from the outside, so a little bit of planning and coordination to ensure it’s perfect can go a long way.

Weigh up what you’ve got already and start to break down what you actually need. If you have a small budget you can start small and build up your gaming setup until your idea comes to fruition.

There are certain gaming room setup essentials, such as a desk, chair, monitor, and gaming PC. The other bits and pieces, such as atmospheric lighting, artwork, and multi-monitor displays are end-game.

Consider these three things before bringing those ideas to life

We have mentioned it already and will likely mention it again but your budget is one of the more important aspects to consider before we get carried away with our ideas. How far you can push your setup does depend on how much you can spend on it, however, there is no correct answer and we have seen some marvelous results on a shoestring budget.

The most common issue many come up against is a limited amount of space. Small designated rooms that have been turned into an ‘office’ or even bedroom setups are often restricted. A great way to combat space issues is with the perfect gaming desk. There are desks in all sorts of shapes and sizes so make sure you get your measuring tape out and find the best for your needs.

Compromises are something you may have to deal with. Depending on your budget and space, there are certain sacrifices you may need to take to bring your setup idea to fruition. You never know, some compromises may bring some monetary benefits and can often speed up the decision process, with limited options to choose from.

Good gaming setup ideas can help save you money

What is considered ‘good’ is largely subjective and it is completely possible to make a fantastic gaming setup on the cheap. Money doesn’t bring you the best, it only helps, so if you get creative with your ideas and spending, you can have an equally good gaming setup as some of the best out there, for less.

For those that can’t find any suitable second-hand furniture down the charity shop, there is always IKEA? Working an IKEA gaming desk into your setup could save you a few pennies without ruining the overall aesthetics.

What gaming setup accessories do you need?

Assuming you already know about the main gear you need (mouse, headset, keyboard, mousepad, monitor, and chair), there are several other nice-to-have items that will enhance your gaming experience while also completing your setup.

A mouse bungee is somewhat considered essential unless you are using a wireless mouse and you can get these little delights with RGB too, meaning there is likely a bungee out there that will match up with your setup ideas.

A headset stand is a bit of a luxury, there is nothing wrong with chucking it on the desk when finished with it, however, the stand unquestionably cleans things up and is an absolute must for those looking for a minimalist gaming setup.

If you are considering streaming you may want to include a stream deck and standalone microphone.

Many will incorporate their console or a huge TV into their setup for games that you can sit back, relax, and play with a controller. If you aren’t a console gamer or don’t have a PC-compatible pad, you should pick one up for your setup.

Can you turn a bedroom into a bedroom gaming setup?

In short, yes. This largely depends on space, however, with innovative space-saving ideas, you can execute a loft bed gaming setup and no one needs to miss out. For those with medium-sized bedrooms, a corner desk or L-shaped desk gaming setup could be ideal. For everyone else where space is no issue, you can really go to town and create the setup of your dreams, if the bank balance will allow it.

Take your setup to the corner and fully immerse yourself.
