The Spec Ops Missions were a big staple of the original MW2, and fans have been hoping they can live up to their heritage in the new version of the game.

Activision confirmed the return of Spec Ops mode at COD NEXT, and since the launch, we’ve received three different Spec Ops missions to play and enjoy.

This time, Spec Ops focuses more on players on the ground or providing air/sniper support. The new dichotomy also means you’ll have two very different ways of playing each mission, effectively doubling their number.

The original game let you play these missions solo and featured twenty-three separate missions. We know that Activision plans on adding more missions down the line, but there’s no clue how many just yet, or if any of the future updates will enable single-player options.

Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops Details

The Spec Ops mode in Modern Warfare 2 has landed and is fantastic. So far, there are three co-op spec ops missions for you to take part in, each with a different vibe and style of gameplay. There are also plans to add further missions to the mode in future updates.

The handful of missions we already have offer a wide range of gameplay types to keep you interested. There’s a stealth-based scenario, a defense mission, and a good old-fashioned firefight.

Other Modes in MW2
