Call of Duty Zombies has always been a popular mode in the long-running shooter, so it’s not surprising many players are wondering if Modern Warfare 2 features it.

Originally, Zombies were only available in Call of Duty games developed by Treyarch, but over the years, they’ve become more common in games from other studios.

So, can you play Zombies in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2? Let’s find out.

Unfortunately, Infinity Ward confirmed Zombie Mode does not feature in Modern Warfare 2.

There are no plans to bring the mode to the game either, so it’s safe to say that Zombies mode is well and truly dead in MW2.

It’s obviously a bit of a disappointment, but the good news is that there are a ton of other Modern Warfare 2 game modes on offer – which we have listed here.

In particular, Ground Mode has had an upgrade and now features a new Invasion Mode, which includes AI-controlled enemies.

While Spec Ops is also back, bringing with it three new missions and a fourth confirmed when Season One kicks off on November 16. You can find out all about Modern Warfare Spec Ops missions here.

Now, there is a slim chance that Zombies could make a return, simply because Modern Warfare 2 will span two years – there will not be another Call of Duty standalone title next year, so Zombies could well be a way of keeping the game fresh.

We know that instead, expansions will arrive, and one of these could well bring us the return of the undead. We’ll have to wait and see.

Why Are there no Zombies in Modern Warfare 2?

As per above, with Invasion, Spec Ops and Warzone 2 on the cards so early on MW2’s life cycle, Infinity Ward may save Zombies until later. Although, again, this is pure speculation at this time.

The truth is that we’re doubtful to see Zombies iN MW2. Why would Infinity Ward put all that time and effort into the mode when they know we’ve got Warzone 2 waiting in the wings?

You can keep wishing, but holding your breath is probably not a good idea. Outside of special events in Warzone 2 or special game mode in MW2’s multiplayer modes, we’ll have to look elsewhere for your Zombie fix.

Finding Zombies in COD Mobile

Luckily, not all hope is lost. If you really need to play some Zombies right now, and you’ve already sold your copies of the original Black Ops and World at War, then you’ll need to download COD Mobile.

In the latest season, COD Mobile re-introduced the classic Zombies Mode with a classic map, Shi No Numa. It’s the only map available, and the mode does feel a bit more limited than console/PC versions, but at its core, it’s the same game.

There are even secret bosses to take down, for which we have written an in-depth guide. So, go start taking down some undead hordes on the go. You can even use a controller on your mobile if you want to have a console-like experience.
