Precise color accuracy and per-pixel lighting makes for stunning picture quality, though the S95D misses out on Dolby Vision and sticks to HDR10+, which is seen as a little worse for TV and movie content.

Should you get the LG G4 or Samsung S95D?

Picking between these two is a pretty close call, but there are some differences that set them apart. For the most clutter-free experience, the One Connect Box that comes with the S95D keeps your peripherals and the TV itself separated. If you want this kind of experience from LG, you’d have to pay much more and invest in the M3 or M4 which offer a wireless design.

The G4 benefits from a wider range of sizes and the 83″ model now features MLA for excellent brightness levels, potentially higher than Samsung’s latest QD-OLED panel. For the best cinematic experience, the larger models of the G4 are your best bet, especially thanks to Dolby Vision support. Is the G4 brighter than the S95D?

Hands-on reviews for these two aren’t currently available, at least not with extensive testing to pit the two panels head to head. However, the fact that the LG G4 could hit 3000 nits peak brightness with Brightness Booster Max is a promising sign in LG’s favor. Samsung say that the S95D is 20% brighter than last generation, whereas LG only disclose that the G4 MLA will be up to 150% brighter than conventional OLEDs for HDR highlights such as the budget-friendly B4 (without evo or MLA tech).

Based on the fact that the G3 reaches a higher peak brightness than S95C, we expect to see a repeat result for 2024’s line-up. It looks like MLA tech is being pushed to new heights, we’re just wondering at what point it will hit a ceiling.
