VRR is a technology that lets a screen synchronize its refresh rate with the output of a gaming console, PC, or another external device. This almost completely removes screen tearing and stutter in fast image sequences.
VRR has become increasingly important in recent years as gaming has become more mainstream and demanding, so it’s no wonder that Samsung has equipped its newest OLED TV masterpiece, the S95C with this technology.

VRR support on the S95C
Samsung S95C’s VRR support comes in the form of FreeSync Premium Pro, which is an adaptive sync technology developed by AMD. FreeSync Premium Pro is a step up from regular FreeSync, as it offers support for HDR content and a wider array of refresh rates. This means that Samsung’s S95C is capable of supporting HDR games with variable refresh rates up to 120Hz, which is a huge win if you desire to get the most out of your TV’s gaming capabilities.
It’s worth noting that while the Samsung S95C does have VRR support, it is not currently compatible with Nvidia’s G-Sync. This is because G-Sync is a proprietary technology developed by NVIDIA, and it is only available on select gaming monitors and TVs.
That being said, AMD’s FreeSync technology is just as capable as G-Sync, and it offers a broader range of compatibility with different hardware. So while the Samsung S95C is not compatible with G-Sync, in no case does it downgrade it as an excellent option for gamers looking for the ultimate TV for gaming purposes.
Samsung S95C VRR: final word
Adding to its VRR support, the Samsung S95C also features a 144Hz refresh rate when connected to a gaming PC. This is a significant improvement over last year’s S95B model, which had a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. The Samsung S95C is overall a gaming-oriented TV. Of course, its VRR support is a major selling point for anyone who wants to power up their favorite game on this 77-inch majestic battle station.
