The RTX 4060 Ti graphics card release date is just around the corner, but will there be an RTX 4060 Ti laptop variant? The short answer is that we don’t know, but it seems unlikely.

There has been no mention of an RTX 4060 Ti laptop GPU from Nvidia or anyone else. Whilst this doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be one taken on its own, there are other indicators besides this. Read on for a breakdown of our reasoning.

Was there an RTX 3060 Ti laptop GPU?

In the previous gen Nvidia 30-series, desktop RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards existed, but the laptop equivalent never materialised. This makes it seem less likely that Nvidia would release an RTX 4060 Ti.

Would there be any point in a RTX 4060 Ti laptop GPU?

The average FPS performance uplift between the existing RTX 4060 laptop GPU and the RTX 4070 laptop GPU is about 20-23%, though this obviously varies depending on the game in question. An RTX 4060 Ti laptop would have to slot between these two performance points to really make sense or have a performance similar to the RTX 4070 but cheaper for Nvidia to produce / allow them to use up excess RTX 4060 component stock (as was the case with the RTX 3070 Ti laptop GPU compared to the RTX 3080).

We don’t see the first of these being likely, as the range between the two seems too small for a third SKU. In terms of the second possible reason, we can’t know what makes economic sense for Nvidia. Overall though, we think it’s unlikely we’ll see one.
