Now that the RTX 4060 family has been officially launched, it’s time to answer an important question: what GPU is equivalent to RTX 4060 Ti and 4060? This is an interesting topic of discussion, especially when you take into account that there are a couple of variants of the RTX 4060 Ti – the 8GB and 16GB VRAM options.
The reveal of the 4060 models may have you wondering about alternatives to the new GPUs. Although there are models relatively close to them within the Ada generation – namely the RTX 4060 or RTX 4070, we think it’s best to see what the previous and alternate generations have to offer. Here we can find options that more closely resemble the RTX 4060 Ti and 4060 in performance.

GPU equivalent to RTX 4060 Ti
Finding an alternative GPU equivalent to RTX 4060 Ti can be a great option if you want to widen your search while shopping for your newest graphics card. We can look back to older GPUs that still deliver on performance, with the possibility of saving some of your hard-earned cash.
With that in mind, let’s show off our chosen RTX 4060 Ti equivalents. We look both within Nvidia’s range but also look over to AMD as a fantastic alternative right now.

First up is the RX 6750 XT, a capable card from AMD’s 6000 series RDNA 2 line-up. This closely matches the performance of the RTX 4060 Ti and serves as a great alternative right now. Although you won’t be able to take advantage of the 40-series DLSS 3 & frame gen technology, the RX 6750 XT serves as a close equivalent based on raw performance.
This AMD card has 12GB of VRAM, which is ideal for gaming at higher resolutions, especially when compared to the 4060 Ti 8GB model, but with higher bandwidth than even the 16GB model so is likely a good alternative. It does however require more power than the 4060 Ti and is a less efficient option overall, as most older equivalents are.

Next up we jump back over to Nvidia’s own RTX 3070. This GPU from the previous 30-series generation offers great performance and matches the 8GB of the cheaper RTX 4060 Ti. The 3070 is perhaps one of the closest alternatives in terms of performance, even though the 40 series has moved from the Ampere to Ada Lovelace architecture.
This jump in architecture means the RTX 4060 Ti can perform just as well with a lower power draw. As we said earlier though, sourcing an RTX 3070 for cheaper may be an easier task, especially while the RTX 4060 Ti is still a fresh release.

Last, but certainly not least, is the RX 6800. We’ve gone back to AMD for this pick. Another fantastic equivalent, albeit with a performance that is a little better than the RTX 4060 Ti. This is jumping one step ahead of the RX 6750 XT we previously mentioned and is a popular choice for gaming.
As you can see, we’ve jumped up to 16GB of VRAM, which outdoes the 8GB base model of the 4060 Ti. Now we’re rivalling the 16GB variation which may have grabbed your interest. The RX 6800 is a fantastic pick if you want future-proofed memory and excellent performance all the same.

Now for the non-Ti card, there is a bit less power from ut and you can expect a drop in tier of the equivalent options. With the available card broadened to even include new AMD hardware at the same level, both of them aiming at the lower 1080p gaming market.

For the closest equivalent you can expect, the RX 7600 is a close competitor to what the 4060 is likely to be able to achieve. Although the release date of the card is still upcoming, we still have a good idea of what to expect from the 60 model. And we expect it to match what the 7600 can do.
This card does have a lower MSRP and is based on the same 8GB of GDDR6, but does have a higher clock rate of one Gbps. With a 16 GB/s higher bandwidth of the 7600. But for that higher clock, the TGP of the 7600 is much higher than that of the Nvidia card. Rated at 165W instead of the lower 115W of the 4060 so you do get a more expensive power card with the Radeon GPU.
The AMD card also offers performance support in terms of upscaling on the driver level. Without the need for game implementation, you get RSR driver usage for any game and boost what the games can achieve if it’s not quite enough for you.

The last gen option might be the obvious equivalent but it was a popular choice for a reason. The RTX 3060 Ti is what the 4060 is likely to succeed in terms of power and the performance you can expect from it. As the older pick now it does provide a likely cheaper alternative now that still has the power behind it with modern architecture.
It does provide some stronger benefits over the new 4060 in terms of memory. It has a bandwidth of 448 GB/s on the same 8GB GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit bus. Compared to the 4060s 272 GB/s would suggest a better performance at 1440p resolutions which might be the case when we see the benchmarks of the new cards.
