Despite being metacritic’s highest scoring game of 2022 so far, Elden Ring hasn’t come without its issues. But Bandai Namco isn’t messing around. Just hours after the game’s initial release, the publisher released a statement addressing Elden Ring’s performance issues.

Elden Ring performance issues

In a statement released on Bandai Namco’s website, the publisher addresses the fact that Elden Ring fans have been feeding back already with a number of issues that prevent the game from running properly. Some of these issues can be resolved, and Bandai Namco has revealed some immediate fixes that can be tried. Other issues will be ironed out in a patch “in the near future”.

Elden Ring FPS issues

A problem a lot of players have been reporting in Elden Ring’s first day out in the wild is severe drops in FPS. If you are struggling with low FPS in Elden Ring, Bandai Namco recommend updating your Graphics Drivers. Ensuring that your Graphics Drivers are up to date can apparently “significantly improve performance.”

Elden Ring not saving on PS5

Another issue that has been addressed in the Bandai Namco statement is that PlayStation 5 gamers are experiencing save data issues. Players have been reporting that Elden Ring is not saving properly on PS5 when the console is switched off unexpectedly during gameplay or in rest mode. Bandai Namco has said that they will patch this in a future update, but in the meantime, you should quit Elden Ring manually (and regularly) via the Main Menu before turning off your console.

How to save Elden Ring manually

  • Enter the Main Menu by pressing the ‘Options’ button.
  • Select Quit Game.
  • Wait for the game to save and close before turning off your PS5.

Upcoming Elden Ring update

Two more PC issues have been addressed in the statement, and Bandai Namco has stated that they are being looked into and will be fixed in a future patch. These are the known issues with Easy Anti-Cheat failing to launch for some Steam users, and an issue with the mouse sensitivity being too high.

When will the next Elden Ring patch be released?

At the moment, Bandai Namco have not announced a date for upcoming fixes, or whether they’ll all be resolved in the same patch, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as the next Elden Ring patch is released. In the meantime, we do have the patch notes from Elden Ring’s day one patch.

Other known Elden Ring issues being discovered in the launch frenzy include a Network Status Check Failed error message, which is mainly down to overloaded servers.
