This makes sense, as the PSVR 2 requires a PS5 to work, and it needs to be plugged in, meaning that there has to be a practical limit. But what is that limit? Does there even have to be a limit? Fret not, dear reader. We’ll explain.
If you’re anxious for more PSVR 2 info, we’ve already covered whether you can wear glasses with the PSVR and what size room you’ll need, with much more info coming. For now, though: Can you move while wearing the PSVR 2 headset?
Can you move while wearing the PSVR 2 headset?
The answer is a resounding, and unsurprising yes. However, there is a limit and some options if you don’t have the room to move around too.
According to Sony’s bumper FAQ post, you’ll need a 2m × 2m (6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in) free area for what they call ‘Roomscale’ gameplay. This is the gameplay mode that allows you to physically move around, however, we re-iterate that you don’t need to utilize this ability.
On the flip side, Sony has put a lot of effort into ensuring that any movement doesn’t impact the tracking of the controllers.
The original PSVR utilized the PS Camera to provide tracking info, as it visually tracked the bulbous light-up ends of the PS move controllers. This worked ok, however, if the line of sight was broken, for example, if your body was between the controller and the camera, tracking would stop until the line of sight was restored. This limited movement considerably, which is probably the cause of this query.
Luckily, movement is more comprehensively tracked with the PSVR 2, as the cameras integrated into the headset itself track the controllers. They have a very wide FoV too, so the range is far larger.
Can you move while using the PSVR 2?
Yes. Though, it’s recommended that you have at least 2m × 2m (6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in) of free space.
How long is the PSVR 2 cable
The included USB Type-C cable is approximately 4.5m (14.7 ft) long
