Does the Samsung Galaxy S23 have a good camera? Well in hardware terms little has changed since last year’s model, although software improvements will make a degree of difference. We won’t know what impact these will have until after the Galaxy S23 release date itself and we get to test it, but the specification details have been released.

Samsung has always been one of the top smartphone manufacturers in terms of camera performance. Last year’s Galaxy S22 camera excelled in many ways and was proclaimed to be the best phone camera of 2022. Unfortunately, by the end of the year, Google Pixel 6a dethroned Samsung.

So, the Galaxy S series fans are curious about what Samsung has planned with the Galaxy S23 as the launch is just around the corner. The Galaxy S23 was expected to have one of the best smartphone cameras for 2023. But Samsung kept everything pretty tight under wraps.

Samsung Galaxy S23 camera specs leaked

Surprise! Surprise! Samsung opened the pre-order reservations for the Galaxy S23 devices and we have now got a clear picture of Galaxy S23’s camera specs:

  • Main Camera: 50MP, F1.8 aperture, 23mm,1/1.56” sensor size, OIS, PDAF
  • Telephoto Camera: 10MP, 3.0X optical zoom, F2.4 aperture, 69mm, ⅓.94” sensor size.
  • Ultra-Wide Camera: 12MP, F2.2 aperture, 13mm, ½.55” sensor size.
  • Lastly, the Galaxy S23 is getting a 10Mp selfie camera

Compared to last year’s Samsung Galaxy S22, the camera specs have stayed the same. Samsung may have a reason for using the same sensors as last year’s. But this doesn’t mean the image quality will stay the same. The new standard S23 comes with improved low light photography and video through ‘Nightography’ which is powered by Enhanced AI. Digital Image Stabilisation also means smoother video. Check out our Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs iPhone 14 Pro Max page for more info on the Ultra’s camera improvements, which are considerably more impressive.

Ultimately, whatever the outcome is, it is up to the users to decide which camera performs better. Everything is down to the software. In any case, remember Samsung has nailed the Galaxy S series devices in terms of the camera almost every time. This time the competition is even more challenging. So, it is improbable that Samsung will fail this time.
