Pokémon GO Fest is back for 2022 this month, and full details of what we can expect from the two-day event – whether you’re a ticket holder or not – are here, including the debut of Gratitude Pokémon Shaymin, costumed Pikachu, and Unown variations.

Pokémon GO’s Summer GO Fest event is taking place over the first weekend in June, and Trainers around the globe can take part, whether you purchase a ticket or not. Here, we’re going to take a look at what’s taking place each day, all ticket-holder exclusive bonuses, and the all-new Pokémon GO Fest Finale! The main things to know, though, are that this year’s GO Fest is all about Shaymin, the Mythical Gratitude Pokémon, which will be making its Pokémon GO debut for ticket holders. Also, Pokémon that have previously been very rare will be appearing throughout the weekend, such as Axew, Tropius and Pancham, and a bunch of other Pokémon will be making their shiny Pokémon GO debut!

Pokémon GO Fest Day 1 — June 4, 2022

All Trainers

On Saturday, the event will be split into hour-long segments, each represented by a habitat theme. The four rotating habitats will be indicated by themed confetti, and different Pokémon will appear for all Trainers. Every single player will also be able to claim a free event-themed avatar item in the in-game shop.

Each themed hour will take place twice during the course of the eight-hour day, so if you miss the first one, don’t panic! You’ll have another chance later.

Pokemon GO Fest Shaymin Mythical Pokemon
The Mythical Gratitude Pokémon Shaymin

Ticket holders will have access to an exclusive Special Research Story that will result in an encounter with the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin. Other rewards for completing these research tasks include an event-exclusive avatar item and a special avatar pose.

Before undertaking your Special Research Tasks, you’ll need to choose the path you’d like to follow, a choice which will be permanent, so choose wisely!

You will need to choose between Relaxed, Standard and Master difficulty for your challenges. While this will change the challenges you receive, it won’t change your rewards, apart from the sticker given upon completion.

You’ll also need to select whether you prefer to Catch, Explore or Battle, which will also determine the type of challenges you receive.

Event Pokémon attracted to Incense

Unown B will be making its global Pokémon GO debut, and will be attracted to Incense for the duration of the Saturday event alongside other Unown variants. Ticket holders with incense active will also see an increased chance of encountering shiny Pokémon!

The Pokémon GO Fest Finale is taking place in August once in-person GO Fest events have concluded in Germany (July 1 – 3), Seattle, US (July 22 – 24), and Sapporo, JPN (August 5 – 7). The finale will include a Special Research Story, more event-exclusive Pokémon encounters and much more, with additional details to be revealed nearer the time. Pokemon GO Fest 2022 how to buy ticket

How to buy a Pokémon GO Fest ticket

If you want to get the full rewards from the event, as well as entry to the August Finale, then you can buy a ticket from the Pokémon GO in-game shop. Tickets cost US$14.99/£13.99 or your local equivalent, and can be found in the in-game shop right now.

We can’t wait for Pokémon GO Fest this year, it feels like one of the busiest and most exciting Pokémon GO events to date with the great selection of Pokémon debuts and shinies. Apart from the adorable Shaymin, the highlight for us is definitely shiny Axew… fingers crossed for that shundo (shiny, 4*) Haxorus.
