You may be thinking about where to buy Intel 14th gen, but first you may need to consider does Intel 14th gen come with cooler? If you haven’t already got a CPU cooling solution, or simply want something fresh for your build, having a stock cooler is a nice thing to have so you don’t have to go around looking for the best CPU cooler and adding even more to your shopping list.

As the Intel 14th gen release date passes, many people will be looking to upgrade to the latest generation of Intel processors, but of course a CPU is no good without a cooling solution beside it. Luckily, the 14th gen will be sticking to the familiar LGA 1700 socket so you don’t have to upgrade your entire motherboard.

While these two models didn’t come with a cooler, feel free to check out our i5-14600K and i9-14900K reviews for an in-depth look at a couple of the newest Intel Core processors.

Does my Intel 14th gen CPU come with a cooler?

Right now, no Intel 14th gen CPUs will come with a cooler as only K and KF models are available on initial launch as you can see in our Intel 14th gen processor list – and these have no stock cooler provided. There is some historical data we can look back to in order to help you out. Checking out the Intel Laminar RM1 Cooler specifications show us that both the i9-13900 and i9-12900 CPUs didn’t come with a cooler either, which means we don’t expect the i9-14900 to either, but our best CPU cooler for i9-14900K guide comes in handy.

Although the high-end enthusiast options are unlikely to come with a cooler, some of the alternatives probably will. From the 13th gen line-up, the following CPUs are shipped with the Laminar RM1 when buying an official boxed processor:

  • i7-13700
  • i7-13700F
  • i5-13500
  • i5-13400
  • i5-13400F
  • i3-13100
  • i3-13100F

This is backed up by this Intel support query that reveals that no K, KF, KS, XE, or X variants are shipped with a cooler. When shopping around for your new Intel 14th gen CPU, stick to models equivalent to the above if you want a stock cooler included. Just be sure to check the product listing, as there is a chance not all retailers will include the cooler.

What cooler should I use for Intel 14th gen?

You may think that when upgrading to the Intel 14th gen, you’ll have to upgrade your cooler to match. However, as the 14th gen CPUs are part of the Raptor Lake Refresh, they stick to the familiar LGA 1700 socket. That means some of the best coolers for Intel 13th gen will be compatible with the newer generation as well, but we’ve also put together the best CPU coolers for Intel 14th gen for more choice.

While the stock cooler can be a great option, a dedicated CPU cooler often provides a better cooling solution, which is why we often see the high-end power-hungry SKUs not shipped with a cooler. If you’re going for one of the more budget-focused CPUs though, then the stock cooler provided gets the job done.

Intel 14th gen cooler FAQs

Do I need to upgrade CPU cooler for Intel 14th gen?

If you’re upgrading from an Intel 12th gen or Intel 13th gen CPU, then it’s unlikely that you’ll need to upgrade your CPU cooler along with it.

That’s because the 14th gen is likely to stick to the LGA 1700 socket, so any cooler compatible with that will be supported. Be sure to check your current cooler’s compatibility, as they tend to cater to a number of sockets and platforms.

Is there a stock cooler for the Intel 14th gen?

We don’t yet have any confirmation of whether the 14th gen will include a stock cooler like the 13th gen’s Laminar RM1 cooler. We’ve put together a guide to what to expect though! Read within.
