The Galaxy S22 battery life
The Galaxy S22 barely received any battery life improvements. But the device came with a new chipset which provided some interesting results.
The Galaxy S22 was paired with a small 3,700 mAh battery, a downgrade from the last generation’s Galaxy S21’s 4,000 mAh battery.
Better Battery Life for the Galaxy S23
The unfortunate reality of battery life is it can never be enough. But in the case of the standard Samsung Galaxy S device, the need is real. The device needs a battery boost desperately. The Galaxy S22 had a 6.1-inch display and somewhat lived up to Samsung’s claim of the daily usage limit, but barely. Then again, this is the condition when the device is brand new. According to user reports, the bratty level takes a significant dip after roughly using the device for a month or two. After turning off the always-on display and keeping the standard refresh rate, the battery level reaches 30% or 40% by roughly 9 PM, barely passing the threshold. A charger pack would be necessary for short trips.
The reality is Galaxy S22 was equipped with the smallest battery, which makes sense as it is the smallest smartphone in the lineup. But Samsung needs to do better. The company needs to improve its battery life in one way or another to make the Galaxy S23 a compelling choice for Android users.
The biggest competitor in terms of battery life will be the iPhone 14 series. The iPhone Pro Max in particular has around 19 hours of battery life, which is huge. It’s unlikely that the S23 series will match this, but if they manage to squeeze an extra couple of hours on top of the 13 hours that the S22 Ultra could manage, that will still be welcome.
