What is Wireless Charging?
As the name suggests, wireless charging allows charging a device like Galaxy S23 without any charging cable. The technology comes from a concept known as inductive charging. It allows the transmission of electricity through the air using magnetic fields.
In this case, the transmitter or the changing pad will be connected to a power outlet. The transmitter will create an oscillating magnetic field with a receiver, which is the Galaxy S23 smartphone. The receiver, or rather the smartphone, receives the current through a specially designed antenna attached to the battery. It may sound like new technology, but it has been around for a century. Thankfully, the technology gained popularity with the advent of smartphones.
Is the Galaxy S23 Qi compatible? Samsung Galaxy S23 Qi wireless charging
The Qi wireless charging is a standard. It is not the only wireless charging method available in the market but the one currently adopted by the smartphone industry. It is the only wireless charging method supported by two smartphone giants, Samsung and Apple. Qi is pronounced, “chee.”
The actual Qi wireless charging method is complex, but the basic idea is straightforward. In order to charge a device wirelessly, induction coils or coils made of copper wire are necessary. These coils are integrated into the charging stations and the supported smartphones. So, after placing a compatible device on the charging station, the coils on the two devices will come close and act as a transformer. The charging station generates a magnetic field, accompanied by an electrical current, which flows into the smartphone battery without using cables.
