AMD’s newer platform has some costs associated with it but now might be the time to jump on it. As the ever-popular AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is in Amazon’s Big Spring Sale. Arguably one of the best gaming CPUs of its time, the X3D processor provides you with a top gaming level without an incredibly high price.

That is also pushed further by the Amazon deal currently on the CPU. As of right now, the 7800X3D is discounted by 18%, dropping the price from $449 to just $369. Allowing you to start off your next build or upgrade for a lot less and improving the value of the 7800X3D even further.

Is the 7800X3D deal worth it?

The Big Spring Sale makes the 7800X3D an even greater value choice. Considering the efficiency already provided by the CPU, it gives you even better savings overall. Not only will you be gaming with a lot less power when running intensive workloads and keeping your bills down, but the deal will net you $80 in savings from the retail price.

It does require you to be on AMD’s latest AM5 platform, but don’t worry that has also gotten a lot cheaper to get onto. With the best DDR5 RAM choices coming down from their launch prices you can get 32GB of 6000MHz for just over $120 or you can always find even cheaper options if required. But also the best AM5 motherboard for you doesn’t have the be the top X670 chipset, but a B650 is a good alternative for strong performance as well.

That means you can get a great AMD build started for around $500. You just have to get the best GPU for the job as well and no matter what you choose, the 7800X3D is certainly not going to hold you back. With the 3D cache and 96MB of L3, games thrive on it and boost their performance.

What else to pair with the 7800X3D?

When it comes to providing your 7800X3D with the right components to match, then there is a bit of consideration. Firstly, most importantly the GPU should be powerful, of course, you can get a budget GPU but you might not get the most out of your CPU with it. A great combo would of course be the RTX 4080 Super or RX 7900 XTX as they offer the top performance from Nvidia and AMD and match the 7800XD.

As lower pricing choices there are also the RX 7800 XT and 4070 Super, as although they seem close in naming do drop the price down significantly. Then as mentioned previously a strong B650 motherboard or splashing out on an X670 pick will match the CPU and unlock its abilities. Paired with a PSU to give it 150W at least, but the GPU will dictate the power overall.

More importantly, you need the best CPU cooler for the 7800X3D. Ideally, an AIO or big air cooler to make sure you don’t throttle the performance of the CPU as it thrives from everything you give it the 7800X3D doesn’t clock too highly to protect its cache so it will keep the clocks down if needed. Then also ensure you have a great case for the job and enough cooling overall.
