Every so often FIFA 23 will release Showdown SBCs for players to complete, these SBCs require players to complete the SBC to get the card and then if the players team wins they will receive a plus 2 ratings boost. The losing card doesn’t receive a boost at all, and in the event of a draw both cards go up by 1.
The latest Showdown in FIFA 23 is Meunier and Roussillon, with their teams facing off on April, 8. Both players are full backs, but Roussillon plays on the left, whereas Meunier is on the right. So let’s dive into both players and see who is the better choice of the two, or if it isn’t worth doing either.
As we continue to move into the business end of the season, as well as get closer to the newly announced EA Sports FC, Showdowns are likely to become more and more frequent in the game.
FIFA 23 Showdown Thomas Meunier – RB – Borussia Dortmund
Thomas Meunier’s card looks like a perfect all rounder and even if they draw at the weekend, he will also get a boost to 5 star weak foot and skill moves. So if you’re rocking a Bundesliga team currently, this card is a no brainer.
Unfortunately he isn’t the easiest to link in hybrid teams as Belgian players of this quality are pretty rare, fortunately though Hummels has just had a very good special card along with Guerrerio. So if you do want to get Dortmund players in your team you have plenty of options, even if you’re on a budget.
FIFA 23 Showdown Jerome Roussillon – LB – Union Berlin
Roussillon is a very similar card to Meunier, and has much better nation links considering how many french players there are in the game. If you have a french icon he will be very easy to include in your team, and there aren’t too many really good left backs currently in the game.
Like Meunier, he will receive the same boosts, so both cards could potentially become amazing, but even if he isn’t boosted it will still be a pretty special card. The only downside to Roussillon is the fact Dortmund are favourites for the match, but it is tight. It will prove to be a very good game, one with huge repercussions for the title race.

The game at the weekend is an incredibly difficult one to choose and although Meunier is the better card, and more likely to go up, Roussillon definitely has the better links due to being French. Honestly, it may be worth doing both.

Both of these SBCs will expire before they play at the weekend. They will be available until 6pm on the 08/04/2023.
