Despite being a few years old, No Man’s Sky still has plenty of life left, with regular updates coming thick and fast. The latest one, coined 4.2, brings a brand new ship to the game as well as a new ‘Corrupted’ worlds to explore.

In what is the largest update to the game for a matter of months, there is a is a ton of new content now available – from corrupted planets to legions of new robotic guardians to battle. You’re able to hijack their technology, steal their ships, harvest their resources, destroy their freighters and more.

As per the official website, Corrupted Worlds are now dotted around the galaxy, which can be explored. You’ll be able to pick up Corrupted equipment and also explore crashed spaceships – so expect plenty of loot.

“A darkness spreads through the Sentinel horde. Many fortified worlds have succumbed to corruption, with strange crystals sprouting from the earth and their robot guardians twisted into bizarre new forms,” describes the developer.

The big new addition is the Sentinel Interceptor starship. As per the website, you’ll be able to “Hunt down your perfect Sentinel ship, or collect a whole range of these sleek procedurally-generated Interceptors”.

Elsewhere, when it comes to the VR version of the game, the update now allows the high-tech projector interfaces for accessing menus in VR to be grabbed and moved, allowing full custom control over their position. You can reattach the wrist projectors to any location around your hand or Multi-Tool.

The changes and improvements to the VR experience already seem to have gone down a storm on the NMS sub-Reddit, with gamers overjoyed with the tweaks. Referring to a boost in image quality on VR, one gamer wrote: “They did it! Better image quality in VR”. It’ll be interesting to see if this sentiment remains as more gamers get their hands on the update.

No Man’s Sky regularly receives updates since it first arrived on the scene back in 2018. The last major update, 4.15 arrived in March and addressed a number of gameplay issues. Top of the fix lists were complaints around the PS5 controller rumble not working correctly, as well as a number of PSVR bugs around the base-building mechanic.
