The Pokémon Company is celebrating April’s Fools Day 2022 in Pokémon GO, and Ditto will be the star of the 2-Oh?-22 event, as given away by the title.

Not only will Ditto be disguised as new Pokémon during the event, the first rotation of disguises since September 2021, but players will also be able to encounter Ditto from an event-exclusive Research Task and Special Research Story.

Ditto Research for April Fool’s Day in Pokémon GO

For the first time in Pokémon GO, Ditto will actually appear as an encounter in its own right in this April Fool’s Day event, not just disguised as another wild Pokémon. You’ll be able to earn Ditto encounters and Ditto candy by completing the Special Research, but why is Professor Willow acting so strange…?

All Research Story Tasks in 2-Oh-22

Part 1 of 3

• Catch 10 Pokémon – 25 x Poké Balls
• Catch five Normal-type Pokémon – 5 x Potions
• Make five nice throws – 5 x Nanab Berries

Rewards: 15 Ditto Candies, 1,000 Stardust, 5 Razz Berries

Part 2 of 3

• Catch 10 Pokémon – 15 x Great Balls
• Catch three Ditto – 5 x Super Potions
• Transfer 10 Pokémon – 5 x Pinap Berries

Rewards: 15 Ditto Candies, 1,500 XP, 1 Silver Pinap Berry

Part 3 of 3

• Claim Reward – 10 x Ultra Balls
• Claim Reward – 5 x Hyper Potion
• Claim Reward – 3,500 XP

What’s more, you will also be able to encounter a Ditto by completing the Catch 3 Ditto Field Research task from Pokéstops.

New event-themed Ditto stickers

During the Pokémon GO April Fool’s Day event, there will also be a new range of stickers available from Pokéstops and Gifts that you can attach to Gifts that you send on. In the event-themed stickers, see Ditto appear as a blobby Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno, alongside a Best Buddy Ditto and other sticker designs.
