Growlithe, being one of the Gen 1 Pokémon first encountered in the Kanto region, has been in Pokémon GO since the game’s launch in 2016. From there, its shiny variant was released in Pokémon GO as a Field Research encounter in September, 2018. As such, yes, Growlithe can still be found in its shiny variant in Pokémon GO. As Growlithe can be shiny in Pokémon GO, its evolution, Arcanine, can too. All you need to evolve a shiny Growlithe to its shiny evolution is 50 Growlithe Candies – which you’ll likely have if you’ve been playing for some time.

Growlithe got its own regional variant with the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus in the form of Hisuian Growlithe. While, at the time of writing, there are some Hisuian Pokémon available in the mobile game, Hisuian Growlithe isn’t one of them. It was hoped that it may have been released as part of the Growlithe Spotlight Hour on March 15, 2022, but that wasn’t to be. We’ll update you as soon as we know when Hisuian Growlithe, and maybe even its shiny counterpart, become available to catch in Pokémon GO.
